I'm going to try to keep this announcement brief: the financial difficulties FurAffinity suffered in the wake of Dragoneer's unfortunate passing, and the site's extended outage due to the domain registration account being hacked, has served as a wakeup call about the fragility of FA's existence and that of other websites. As a result I've reevaluated how I want to post my works going forward so I don't have all my eggs in one digital basket.
The big news is I have an ArchiveOfOurOwn account now: https://archiveofourown.org/users/PottyAnimal. After doing some research I learned that while it is mainly a platform for fanfiction they allow original fiction if it's made in a "fannish" context. I think that applies to furry fiction since the furry community is considered a fandom. This has been in the works for a while (I had to wait on a waiting list to make an account there), so I didn't announce it until now, but I've now reuploaded my first story on there. I don't know how good it is for discovering artists or writers outside a specific fandom, but I'm going to be using it as a backup archive of all my stories in case FurAffinity or Inkbunny shut down or become unusable due to policy changes. I'll try to stick to a schedule of uploading one story per week there but this may vary if I'm busy with real life shit.
The other news is I'm officially giving up on porting all my work to my SoFurry account. There's not much of a watersports or scat community there and their crappy upload interface turned every upload into a huge chore. I'm keeping the account open and anything already uploaded there will stay up, but unless there's a major change to FA or IB that causes a mass exodus I won't be messing with their upload system anymore.
I might make an account on Itaku or something to have another backup for my visual art, I don't know.
