Antis always think they know everything. Since SEGA removed Tails' official age, some Antis have changed their tune. They now claim that even if the age setting was deleted, it doesn't mean the age doesn't exist, and it doesn't mean Sontails isn't a gross ship.
So I got harassed like this again on YouTube. This Anti even dug up my comment from two months ago (which was a reply to other viewers on my own video) to attack me. They said that even if the age setting was removed, it doesn't prove anything. Since Sonic always calls Tails his "little bro," he sees Tails as a brother, and my video is still disgusting.
Well, we all know that in Sonic's current main universe canon (excluding parallel universes like Archie Comics), SEGA obviously won't give Sonic a real boyfriend/girlfriend (even Amy's affection is just a strong hint, not Sonic's girlfriend, let alone Amy's character positioning change after Sonic Frontiers). By this logic, Sonadow and Sonamy, two of the biggest Sonic ships, are just "fan imagination" too. I think Shadow in the main universe mostly wants to beat Sonic up, haha. He even kicked Tails hard in the stomach with his metal rocket shoes in the new Sonic 3 movie trailer, and it was a flying kick.
Following this theory, it seems all Sonic fanworks should be eliminated because "Sonic doesn't see anyone that way, Sonic only sees everyone as friends, like a central air conditioner." How Funny. And what's more interesting is - considering Sonic sees everyone as friends, who does SEGA officially recognize as Sonic's best friend?

So the Anti's argument clearly doesn't hold water. This kind of argument is a complete denial and huge blasphemy against fanworks. Fanworks are called fanworks because they contain things that don't exist in official works. They're fans' imagination and creativity, a manifestation of fans' own emotional connection to the work. That's the meaning of fanworks' existence.
Now, let's go back to the "little bro" title. The Anti attacked me based on this point. But even ignoring the fact that "fanworks themselves are fans' imagination, created by the creator's thoughts and desires," just from this title alone, their argument doesn't stand.
An interesting fact is that in China/Korea/Japan, there's a habit of calling intimate lovers "brother." In Korean it's “오빠”, in Japanese it's “お兄ちゃん” and in Chinese it's “哥哥”. This way of addressing is generally used between young couples in real life. In Japanese anime, this form of address appears even more frequently. So if the Anti thinks this title proves anything, they're completely mistaken.
Everyone needs to understand that Sonic and Tails aren't blood-related. This title is just a term of endearment, symbolizing their closeness. If Antis think deleting the age setting doesn't prove anything, then neither does this title. Otherwise, by Antis' logic, are all young couples in China/Korea/Japan gerontophiles? All practicing incest? All with huge age gaps? Do Antis have some weird prejudice against these countries? Not to mention that even by Sonic and Tails' original age difference, it's nothing unusual in Japan.
Speaking of blood relations, there's something even more interesting. As we all know, Sonic and Tails are just adoptive brothers without blood ties. In Japan, romantic works about adoptive siblings can be sold openly, both SFW and NSFW. Many Japanese anime have these "sisters" who sweetly call the male lead "big brother" and compete for his affection with other female characters. NSFW works about adoptive siblings can also be sold openly, fully complying with Japanese law, with some becoming classics. Stories about adoptive siblings' romance have long been an independent, popular culture with its own dedicated tags. There are even works solely depicting romance between adoptive siblings.
SEGA's parent company is actually in Japan; it's a Japanese company. Obviously, as adoptive brothers, Sonic and Tails aren't forbidden from romance, and their brotherly terms of address don't indicate their relationship is taboo. It rather shows their extreme closeness. Even if SEGA did make them a couple in some work (though we know they won't, haha), their relationship would comply with Japanese law, without any issues, and could even be sold to the public. They have no blood relation and are free individuals, so why can't I make fanworks where they're in love? Is it dictated by Japanese law, genetics, or just Antis' blind arrogance, close-mindedness, weak knowledge, and false morality?
I tried to talk reasonably with this harasser, explaining all this about art and culture. But it simply replied, "I ain’t believing none of this shit."
Then why did you click on my video? And specifically come to insult me? If you don't want to hear me speak, why not just block me and leave? My thumbnail clearly shows Sonic and Tails kissing, you could have just left, but you still came in to scold me. Do you have some masochistic tendencies?
I didn't even use a single swear word. Not even "fuck" or "shit". After all, it's best to stay polite on these public social platforms; I don't want to get banned by admins. But Antis probably always mistake my politeness for weakness, right?
I wonder if they've considered that I didn't just block them and tried to reason with them purely out of my kindness and the moral education I've received, not out of fear of them.
