Fchan -Why rules matter

by
I first found Fchan back when it was hosted on Hentaiplanet. As the name would suggest, Fchan is 4chan but for furry porn. It used to be super active back in the day and was a great way to find promising projects and artists, not to mention finding commercials and shows from different countries.

Nowadays, Fchan is ghost town with whole boards being untouched for years and some threads going back to 2012.

How did this happen? I was there for the whole thing. But first, let's go over how it worked.

Fchanwas divided into boards that mostly followed a logical progression.

/clean/
The clean board. No visible genitals or questionable material.

If any visible genitals or questionable material, go to the following boards:

/f/
Female. All characters depicted must be female. Pussies and tits heavily encouraged.

/m/
Male. Everything here must have a dick and no tits.

/h/
Herm. At least one character must have at least one dick and some tits. Technically, cuntboys should have gone here. That will be important later.

/tent/
Short-lived tentacles board. Scrapped because you can't get a whole board out something that can barely get two context-oriented thread out of.

/s/
Straight. Pictures must have at least one male and at least one female. No herms.

/toon/
Toon board. Initially intended to be just for cartoony and unrealistic proportions. Eventually just sort ofbecame a general rule 34 board.

/a/
Alternative.Basic fetish material went here, like transformation, bondage, pregnancy, paws, giants, and hypnosis. Cuntboy went here, it will be important.

/ah/
Alternative hard. This was where the more offensive stuff went here. Gore, death, scat, rape, and cub went here.

Things were fine and easy to figure out where things went. Things were great for many years.

The cracks began to show after cub was banned.

The cub ban itself was not the problem, it was how it was being enforced. Officially, cub porn was banned on all boards. However, people quickly noticed visibly underage characters showed up frequently on /toon/. Kind of difficult to say cub is banned on the site when half-a-dozen different threads specifically pertaining to Cream the Rabbit, Tails, Fifi Le Fume, and Kit Cloudkicker were so easy to find.

Then people found they could put loli in /a/ and call it a cuntboy. See the issue?

Things somehow got worse when, for no discernible reason, the rules changed to now allow /a/and /ah/ material on /toon/. You read that right. /toon/ was now considered a higher ranked board than the board that allowed snuff, gore, and piss. Worst was that the standard browse function meant you had to scroll past the threads and see the first post and last three posts in every thread with no warning thumbnails, so you were forced to see diarrhea while looking for unrelated threads of Minerva Mink.

People left in droves and the site barely sees any traffic anymore because the rules no longer made sense. Between  illogical rules and lopsided enforcement, no one knew what was or was not allowed. Bans went out for reasons no one could actually follow and you now had to see stuff your did not want to see just because someone else did.

The admins barely seem to be present anymore and nobody cares. the /clean/ board is full of porn, /toon/ material is in /f/, /m/, /h/, and /s/, and /a/ material has slowly been creeping into the same boards as well.

It saddens me to see the site like this but if the rules make no sense, who would risk using your site?
