I knew it was bigger, but THAT much bigger?

So someone managed to figure out, based on earnings statements, that World of Warcraft has somewhere around 8 million players.

Final Fantasy XIV is at about 30 million.

Granted a good chunk of those are on the free trial, which gives you about a third of the game, but still.

Yah. The Trial could mess with the actual amount of players.
What I might suggest is to determine the amount of players who purchased the most recent expansions for FFXIV and WoW.
According to the internet:
FFXIV: Endwalker reached $5 Million in revenue.
They havn't shown the Revene for Wow: Dragonflight, but according to sources, its had less sales then Shadowlands which that one had 3.7 Million in revenue, which does surprise me given how much more praise Dragonflight gets over the last two expansions before it.
