What about posting on itch.io? They're still NSFW friendly

A nice idea but the long and short of it is that this is because of the payment methods not the site, like master card, visa, and PayPal strong arming sites into banning nsfw content. And I don’t need the extra revenue anymore so just make the content for free

Damn.... Guess I'll be looking at alternate payment methods like crypto again. Now I just want to fuck with Visa and MasterCard

Thanks for being smart enough to not start a sale and inadvertently give gumroad more money like the tons of people who thought that was a smart protest.

it's not ENTIRELY gumroad's fault, they're being strong armed by payment method companies like Paypal and Mastercard, but still i can't abide by those rules and i can't keep my content on that site since any future sales would break TOS
It sucks but eh, what can I do?

These places always use the 'it's paypal and mastercard's fault' excuse. they've used it for more than a decade. IB and FA both had this sort of antagonism. IB didn't go for it, FA did. FA got pushed and pushed until they stopped listening, and then a few years later started pretending the excuse was valid again.

It's a cover-excuse all sites use when they go for this stuff. That's all it is. Whenever a site ignores it, they go on just fine. Hell, for all the claims paypal's up FA's ass, they have a DEAL with paypal that is how "shinies" functions.

The real reason they do it, is because adult content has a specific market, and they can't easily draw younger audiences into pay-gated material. They want younger people using their site so that they can hook future customers. Same as cigarette companies used to do.
