A Question

by
I know I don't really have that many followers or anyone who will likely read this. Still, I had a couple new readers the other day and one said that Axel didn't behave like a military parent...

So my question is does that seem true? My father was military and was a very loving man at home. I realize there are many stories of them being stricter than others; but would they really be unable to separate the field from home? A question I actually find it kind of funny. The chapter in the works actually shows what Axel does for Starfleet.

Anyways sorry for the pointless journal but I do want to improve as a writer so I want to know the opinion of my readers.

I think people are just leaning too much into stereotypes. There's no reason a military parent has to raise their child like he's a drill sergeant.

I agree, I sought out to show that Axel was a very loving parent. My father spent ten years with the military. While he was strict he was a caring and loving man. When it came to work, even after the military, he was passionate. Mind you it wasn't his job to take a cane/paddle to my rear every day.

I directly echo Vaahn's sentiment myself. Unless the character was specifically meant to treat Penitatas that way, and was entrusted to do so by the PJD for special cases, his work / life background doesn't have to dictate his personality.
