Ah, No Nut November. A weird creepy pseudo-religious pseudo-scientific practice reclaimed by the Internet for the purposes of kinkyness. That reclamation is part of the reason I like it. I also like it because… duh. Desperation and edging are great kinks.
I love watching November roll around and seeing everyone write a NNN themed story. Some writers try to serialize it over November, with a section every month. It’s like a more based NaNoWriMo. I love the anticipation of it. Will they succeed? Will they fail? And everyone has their own take on it too.
My biggest disappointment in most of these stories is that they choose to focus on the character denying themselves stimulation and getting pent up, which is alright, but tame. It’s playing NNN on easy mode. The real pros know that No Nut November doesn’t have to mean No Sex November. Maybe it starts restrained, but that’s only so that it can escalate as the protagonists’ needs and desires wear them down little by little. By the end of the month they’re full on fucking. After all, you don’t fail NNN if you don’t cum, right? And once you start pushing your limits in one way, push them in others! Do sex in public! Rawdog it! (it’s fine since you’re not cumming, right?)
Basically, I want more stories that actually explore how NNN can lead to unique sexual experiences that wouldn’t otherwise be possible. And this year, GraceGull has answered my prayers by writing this truly adorable story about sexual exploration, edging and… romance?
I love the relationship between the main characters Xavier and Claude. They're comfortable around each other. They don't see nudity or exploring their bodies as a big deal. But there's also complex emotions beneath that, doubt and insecurities. They have an innocent sexuality that is growing into a not-so-innocent sexuality. Casual sex doesn’t mean meaningless sex, and there’s a lot of meaning here.
I think that's what I love about it the most: it's horny but it's also wholesome. Claude is struggling to square his new sexual desires (easy) with his new romantic desires (hard). He’s crushing on Xavier hard, which adds a wrinkle to the horny games that they play. The story exists on this delightful boundary where it’s about casual sex but still very emotional.
Xavier and Claude, our lead fox boys, are adorable. The way they think about each other is adorable. They remind me of experiences I never had, but wish I did. I’m jealous of both of them and I want to learn more about their history.
Overall, this story was an incredible read. I could picture it so easily in my head, and I was emotionally invested in every scene. I highly recommend it.
