Regarding the use of AI images - opinions wanted.

So I have a question for you all.
Where do you stand on the use of AI generated "art"?
Personally I think it is a great tool for image conception and storyboarding, but should never be posted as a finished product.
I ask this as I am interested in doing a comic.
Now I SUCK at comics - but that is where the use of AI has helped.
I have the comic pretty much finished, but using entirely AI gened images.
I have no intention of uploading them - but WAS gong to use them as a grounds for the comic - kind of like a storyboard.
I am very interested in the opinions or people regarding this. Do you think this is cheating or hacking in someway, or like me do you think this is a tool that can be used to speed up a process?
I don't post much - the last few years have been crazy with buying a house, changing career getting married and starting a family.
But I do want to become more active here again.

It's exploitive by nature, as it relies on sampling human created art. In theory, it could be used as a tool purely for lesser-creative grunt work but realistically 99% of people will not use it responsibly and even if they do, the technology's very nature of sampling/copying existing works makes it destructive to the world of original art and human creativity in general. It's a very tempting shortcut with a nasty catch.

Very true. I see it everywhere, as gent “art” and people are charging for it. I don’t agree with that at all. It should only be used in the concept phase to stimulate ideas or processes. Thanks for the input

Indeed. Music artists like myself have been dealing with this dilemma for decades, as AI tech and shortcuts hit the music scene far earlier than the visual arts.

There's a pretty in depth video I found about the subject of AI in art for anyone who wants a deeper dive: https://youtu.be/-MUEXGaxFDA?si=XRiwgDcTHyQ1DVyT
