Lately a friend of mine has been harassed by former members of the infamous troll group Watch Your Step. This has been going on for some time now, and the person they harassed is Sniff. Back when WYS was still active and trolling furs left and right for lulz, they decided to pick on Sniff mainly because he had a different opinion than theirs... however they went way too far with it. Any furry website that Sniff went to, WYS wasn't too far behind to run him off; with the two main bullies being Synhowl and Naki. Synhowl is a fur who is known to have a rather foul mouth and a temper that is more unstable than nitro, and Naki is Syn's partner in crime that loves to push people's buttons and believes that he is always right in what he does.
When they were with WYS, Synhowl and Naki left so many ill comments and bashing on a thread about Sniff that it came to a staggering 3,000 pages; and had a paw in making a page on the loathed ED that called Sniff a retarded inbred dog fucking redneck. Not only that, but Synhowl also left a comment on the sniff thread on the WYS website that stated she thought about mailing a pipe bomb to Sniff's home; and talked about shooting him dead if he ever showed up at her dwelling. Believe me when I say this didn't settle well with anyone when they read the threads that were leaked out to the public. Because of all this harassment he had to go through, Sniff now goes through boughts of depression and never keeps an account on a furry website for long for fear of being targeted again. WYS has since been shut down and disbanded, with a couple of their members turning over a new leaf. Hpwever for some of them old habits die hard. Naki still pokes and prods at Sniff and cops an attitude when he gets told off, and even though syn says she doesn't talk of him anymore, she still refers to Sniff as a retard and lunatic. They both say that Sniff needs to drop it and stop living in the past, but are willingly blind to the fact that Sniff may never fully recover from the harassment and may have suffered some emotional trauma. Heck in their minds, they believe Sniff deserves to be mocked and made fun of just for shits and giggles.
Because of assholes like these, our government is trying to police the net and are trying to set up cyber bullying laws that will land people in jail for harassing someone via the net. These people think that no harm is done and that there are no repercussions, but trolling can at times be far worse than face to face bullying because the victim cant see the face of their tormentor; and believes that the entire world is against them and hates them. Hell there have even been reports of teenagers committing suicide because they were continually harassed on websites like Facebook and YouTube, and at times the harassing never stops even after they are gone; as in the case where people trolled a memorial webpage set up by the family of a teenage girl who hung herself because of the constant harassment she received on MySpace.
Trolling hurts, and those that troll have no life at all.
