St. John Academy (lore)

So this journal is basically going to serve as a lore dump for the school that Sophie & Mia attend, as well as any other characters that may get added to their storyline (Sam). I wanted something down to reference or add to/ edit later as needed, and it's fun to have it out there publicly. I should note that I am not American (or rich for that matter) so I've had to look up how the school system works there.

Overview
St. John Academy, pronounced by students and former students as “Sinjin academy” or frequently just called “The Academy” is a private combined middle-and-high school. It was named not for a particular Saint, but for its founder who was named St. John Millington. The students at the school are generally the children of the very wealthy; because of this they are expected not just to succeed, but to excel. Heavy pressure is put on the students of The Academy to get top grades, and to participate outside of regular school hours in the variety of academic extracurriculars the school offers.

Extracurriculars
From the robotics club, to the chess club to the Mathletes and even photography and drama clubs, The Academy’s extracurriculars tend to be more cerebrally focused, with some social clubs as well. (Want to fill this out more later)

Sports
While The Academy has teams for many of the major High School sports, including basketball, football, baseball and soccer, none of their teams has ever been particularly successful with very little of the school’s funding focused in that department. One notable exception to this rule though, is The Academy’s Track & Field team, especially the track part. The Academy is proud to say that several successful Olympic athletes, both sprinters and long-distance runners, started their careers at their institute, as well as a small number of participants in the field events.

Housing
As a prestigious private school, not everyone who attends lives nearby. To satisfy the needs of those who still wish their children to attend, a dorm building exists on campus. Each dorm is nothing special, although would be considered large compared to the average campus, containing by default a bed, desk and private bathroom for each room. Lunches are included in tuition costs for all students, but those living in dorms are expected to opt in to the food program and get breakfast and dinner too.
