Friend requests

Can someone explain to me what friends means on ib???

Thanks for explaining! :D

I'll keep on ignoring friend requests I guess uwu

I have no other stuff I post for a selection of people. There's other media for that. (like our discord, which was born from patreon but at this point is just a hangout for a buncha furs from all over)

It's possible to set submissions or journals to "friends only". Basically Friend in IB terms means "someone I trust with the stuff I'm not fine with every IB user seeing".

Friends request means you and/or other users can friend you can allow users to access “friends only” content and journals that no one else but friends can see

mostly...it's kinda a filter feature for more sensative art your less interested in shareing outside your fireinds circle but few people use it.

I have seen a few people do it when they are getting a lot of negative attention over the content they draw use it to hide their content and whitelist who can see it. I know Aogami did this a while back where a majority of their back catalog is now friend only.

Yeah, I have a lot that I begged foradded friends request because I was perfectly OK with anything they post.

Calling it OnlyFans was hilarious, LOL.  Comparing it to Discord invites is just mean, though.

Usually people just use it when they want to make a list of exclusive people to share art with. Personally if an artists asks for this I ignore it no matter how much I like their art as I won't sue friends list that way.

I use it for personal journals about personal issues that I only want very certain people to know of, if its too much to share on my usual socials

It's for exclusive posts, either for your gallery or journal.

- I've seen a few people use Friend posts for early access/exclusive art as part of there kofi/substar/patreon/ect. You just have to remember which friends to remove/add.

- Others have used it as a way to hide their more extreme content or personal journals.

- I know 1 person who used it to post personalized gift art for friends, and talk about irl stuff.

oooh the early access makes sense. But I myself would be too dumb to keep up with that, coz then you'd need to post things twice and such for normal access. but I can see that working for some.

Some artists use it as a security measure for the harder things on this site to keep people from seeing something they don't want to even if they use their blacklist

I've seen some things before... and to think that even more extreme things are hidding... dang

I use it to keep my future children and employers from having access.

with that statement, you shouldn't have ANYTHING visible for anyone but friends though.

exclusivity I believe. Certain journals and posts you don't want others seeing need to be your friends now in order to see it.

Well as others pointed out its mostly exclusivity as unless you are having someone you talk daily on IB theres really no point in having a friend here.
Fiona

I feel the same. like, I myself don't post any specific stuff here I want just a specific number of ppl to see, I'll jsut show that ot my friends somewhere else. *shrugs*

This has been an informative journal/question. I also wasn't sure what a "friend" on this website was supposed to mean. I've gotten a couple requests that I was never sure if I wanted to accept them or not since I didn't really know them that well...nor what it did.

I also receive them every now and then, and finally decided to ask that question XD
glad to help others with this same issue!

Reading the comments on this journal, I think I might take advantage of this feature on here... but just use it to hide my gallery so it looks like I just lurk instead.
