My lack of uploads and my issues with the site.

Oh hello. You must be wondering where my promised uploads are after I said I was going to do so. Have I gotten lazy? No I actually have a few images queued up for uploading but that was more or less put on hold due to a massive issue on this site that probably doesn’t need any introduction here.

The AI generated art and the flood of it. I’m in protest of letting this problem run rampant. How AI art is generated in the first place is through stealing artwork. You have to take art and inject it into the generator for it to work. It’s blatant art theft. No questions about it.

I was even hoping that the moderation on the website would do something about this but after discussing with one of the moderators it’s clear to me that the reason for the lack of action is because it forces them to work. Forces them actually weed out the problems and get their hands dirty. That may sound harsh but that was the attitude and in summary the response I got. “Because the art is going to get harder to find in the future.” What about the now? The problem in front of us?

Now I’ve no prior issues with the moderation team. In fact quite the opposite as they’ve been rather helpful and informative. But this one problem and their solution to “lessen the amount of flooding” instead of an active stance against AI art is such a baffling move on their end that I cannot in any right mind get behind it.

I’ve had a zip folder of my art prepared in advance to upload more art onto the site but I actively refuse to upload unless something is done about this. That’s my stance on everything. I’m not going to let this issue slide and I’m not at all ok with the lack of action.

I think this is a poor way to frame what I said. I don't like AI art, I simply acknowledge that it is going to become increasingly infeasible to moderate as the technology continues to advance (and I'm fairly sure it's going to continue to advance). Any sort of ban on AI work is only practical as long as it is detectable, and I think that window is measured in months rather than years. Why put effort into an AI ban that is probably going to just fall apart by 2025?

I also really don't like the idea of us having regularly to witch-hunt artists on claims, and even if we were to add staff to deal with the AI art category specifically, I don't think that scales into the future. As I told you, I don't want it to reach a point where we're invasively demanding 'proof of talent' from artists  Want to post on Inkbunny? You must demonstrate your ability to draw in front of staff. How far down the path do we walk to ensure not a drop of AI art touches Inkbunny?

I empathize with your position, but I think you're being short-sighted, and I don't agree with your suggestion. If Inkbunny existed entirely in a vacuum, I'd be on-board. But we do not, and regardless of what we do, this technology is going to march on and eventually become indistinguishable from traditional works. I don't like where things are going, but I acknowledge that they are going somewhere, and my personal and the site's position on the issue is not going to change global or technological progress one bit.

It’s this defeatist attitude that made me drop wanting to discuss this with you in the first place. I repeat. What about the now? The problem in front of us? I’d at least appreciate some cleaning up. Once again I bid you a good day.

The same issue I'm having.

"AI" art has no place here, there is no assurance that users won't steal/scrape content in your gallery without permission, there is nothing, and IB is hosting it willingly instead of stamping it out at the root.

I even posed a simple question, which was "can you (any mod/admin) 100% guarantee that ALL "AI" generated images are 100% NOT using content uploaded from my gallery?"

The lack of a reply speaks volumes and I stick to my image embargo on this website along with many others until "AI" is completely banned and removed from the platform.

If you are NOT permitted to do a google search and upload the results you find to your gallery, then "AI" should not be permitted either.
