You know what's sad?

It's kind of sad how some artists I follow (that I won't name) make pretty much nothing but AI art now and they don't seem to be changing their stance on it.

It's a damn tragedy. I've had artists I've had to stop following as they've stopped making the stuff you followed them for (and sometimes even scrapping it) in an attempt to go "legit" or "distance myself from all that weird fetish shit".

And now it's just pushing a few buttons and flooding the "Popular" tag with all this nonsense, on top of the crackdown on SFM/Blender stuff, yet AI is acceptable?

It's just tiring.

I only use AI for basic sketches, because I'm still a beginner.

That's a fairly acceptable use, AI can be used for getting ideas on posing and such, but using that as the art itself is where I find issue.

I know an artist who uses AI to just touch up pics he's done already.

It's not pushing just a few buttons.. From what I saw what actually ended up on the popular tab is stuff using manual reiterating of segments, giving drawn hints to the AI and so on.
It's not like on pixiv where people flood with X variants.

Fear the artists you refer to have realized that it still makes things easier and it's an advantage if you do have some artistic skill already. That way you can see the AI as a tool.

Think the two ways of making images can live side by side...

I got to be honest ai art should be just for reference and not like for posting and stuff
