Honestly, the characters having four fingers does not bother me at all. Since you are on the last Chapter I would leave that alone and keep them with four fingers. Some artist only draw furs with three or four toes too which is not surprising with how much they draw. :)

Your characters are cute / adorable the way they are. Looking forward to the reading the rest of your series. ^^

Yeah, starting the last chapter is a good reason to stay the same as before... maybe... if it's ever get a continuation in the future...

I know a lot of people, even higher-tier artists, that exclusively draw 4 fingered hands. Don't stress it bud, honestly. People crying about perfect realism are ignoring the fact we all draw cartoon animals that wear clothes and drive cars. <3

Don't worry, I don't stress it too much, just want to be curious about my audience's opinion. Hand are the part of the body, that can make look a character very unnatural - much more than having animal heads and genitals.

I think much bigger changes happened in the design of this comic, so I'm just collecting pros and cons.

The entire reason Disney and Warner toons generally have 4 fingers and 3 toes is time savings. It ads up quick especially when your redrawing the characters multiple times.

It doesn’t bug me either way

I have some other tricks too, like drawing some items or poses so their hands just "accidentally" not appearing on the picture.... :D

I'm fine with four fingered characters. What's important is that it looks natural, and it does on your characters.

having non-human traits in anthropomorphics is perfectly fine. tails, limbs, horns, wings, you name it;

here, https://inkbunny.net/s/2923060 the next-to-last panel is perfect with hooves and hindpaws.

so, having non-human paws make your characters more convincing than not; please, go on like this and

👅 👅 👅 those five-fingered hyoooomans with no imagination or fantasy.

Yeah, legs are another question, but even I would be bothered to changing to human like legs. So that will not happen for sure.

Change from 4 to 5 would not bother me. Inconsistently switching between 4 and 5 might XD. When seen from afar, or the image is otherwise too small you shouldn't worry tho, tis a common trope to conserve detail.
All my characters, humanoid or not, have 4 toes and fingers in-universe, but I am often forced to draw paws with 3 when the drawing is too small to fit 4 on the nub.

I didn’t even realise that your characters had 4 fingered hands and I’ve been reading your comic since it first arrived on E6, I don’t mind if you switch to 5 fingers, although maybe for the stake of consistency, it’s probably best to stick with 4 fingers, but at the end of day it’s up to you

I don't think it's an important detail, I usually pay more attention to: facial expressions, drawing style, character construction, not being a copy of other characters with different colors, their crotches, the coherence of their actions when relating to others, etc.

I can't really give you an opinion about a technical matter like the amount of fingers when you have characters as interesting as Dave's parents adjusting to their son's adolescence, or the amount of detail you put into the backgrounds.

Four is fine! If you can do five without it looking weird, then go for it. Otherwise four is more than enough.

Hehe, I never noticed the change, I think 4 fingers works better in a cartoon atmosphere like this one.

Have you ever seen Gravity Falls? Some characters have 5 fingers, some have 4 and one even has 6. That was just the way it was.

Four fingers is a cartoon norm as when they drew 5 people would say the hands looked like a bunch of banana's
So does not bother 90% of people as they are used to it and the other 10% can be jerks but you have to remember that only the top 10% or less of artists are able to draw 5 finger hands well enough for them to look natural

by cartoons i mean the big toons on TV we grew up with, Scoobydoo Yogi etc etc all the humans had 4 fingers
