It’s been a bit since I last posted a journal, so I figured I’d give a bit of an update on my life situation, because things are unfortunately changing for the worse again.
That “miracle situation” with housing just fell through.
I’m not gonna go through too much detail on it, but the short of it is that we had an issue with a proposed 20% rent increase, and instead of handling our complaint like an adult, our landlord, who’s supposed to be a close family friend, has decided she wants us out of the house by June 1st. That gives us about half a year to save up and all that, and she’s only going to charge us our original rent until then, but that still means that I cannot reasonably go without working a traditional job for the next half-year or more. We have to save up for a new place, and we can’t do that if I’m not working.
On the bright side, our other partner is living with us now, and their only major expense in the foreseeable future is a car, as they need to get around, so hopefully, that’ll make saving up relatively painless. With any luck, I’ll be back to focusing on my own projects by the end of next summer.
I’ll still be open for commissions and all that as usual, but I ask, if you do commission me, that you please be patient with me.
I’m also going to really try to keep up on my stories this time, but as I’ve said previously, I cannot make any promises about that. My free time is going to be cut drastically shorter, and I still need time for my other hobbies in there. As much as I love writing, it’s not as calming for me at times as just sitting down and playing a game. I won’t sacrifice my mental health simply for the sake of keeping the stories flowing.
On the bright side, however, I’ve been very productive lately. I had an insomniac night the night before last, and while those are hell for my body, I did end up writing four and a half thousand words yesterday. I wrote a part of Royal Intimacy that I’m not exactly close to reaching chronologically, but it does mean I might be more motivated to write what gets the story to that point so I can post it.
I’m extremely proud of what I ended up writing, even though it’s sad and depression-fueled. It was great for character development concerning pretty much every major character in the story, too, so I have a better idea in my head about how they all act.
If things go well with my writing, I should have the next few chapters of the story up sooner rather than later, and maybe you’ll even see what I wrote last night within the next couple months!
I’m not sure how motivated I’ll be to keep up with Xavier, Rory, Theo, and the Pokémon world version of my sona, but I’ll try to remind myself every once in a while to see about writing something with them. Hopefully, inspiration will strike.
That’s about all I have for you right now. I hope you all are doing well, and I’m crossing my fingers that I still have enough time to work on all the stuff I want to.
