Hey all. Just wanted to inform you on what's been going on...more specifically, why I haven't uploaded anything in a hot minute.
Not sure if you are all aware of how you were supposed to get Gmod online so you can play with friends, but you had to download something called LogMeIn Hamachi. Me and a friend played good and had a lot of fun. We both got off the Discord call, I got a glass of water, and shut my computer down before heading to bed, like I always do. A picture I had been working on was almost ready for upload too.
So I go to work in the early morning, and after a few hours, I come straight home, and all I want to do is finish that piece. I boot up my computer, it starts up fine, but Steam and Discord and all my other startup programs don't startup at all like they usually do. Instead, it's error message after error message.
"A simple restart will fix it", before I do soft-restart. Before I thought about it: Blue Screen of Death shows up on my screen. I let Startup Repair run it's course, it did nothing. The BSOD was still there.
So System Restore was my next solution, it's never failed me, however, I failed the System Restore feature, because I thought I set it up so that it would automatically make a Restore point, but I didn't have a single one to use. So System Restore wasn't an option.
I tried two ways of booting into Safe Mode - Somewhere at startup where you navigate to where you can press 5 to boot into it, and via Command Prompt. Neither worked, I could not even boot into Safe Mode. My computer...was pretty much bricked. I even tried taking the drives out to find and delete Hamachi using my slow as fuck laptop and the external drive dock. That didn't work either.
So I used a USB with Windows on it to try booting into my computer. Low and behold, it didn't work. So my last option was to wipe the entire hard drive and reinstall Windows. All of my work, all of my reference pictures...gone, because Hamachi fucked my computer hard.
The only good news I have to offer after all of this was that I had another USB drive plugged in the whole time that had backups of all of my stuff. Not to the point that they all had been progressed, but they were there, back to their incomplete stage. That, and I didn't need to buy a new license for Windows...just had to log in to my Microsoft account, and I was good to go. But despite that, I have a lot of work to do if I want to get back to where I was.
Also, Paint Tool Sai wouldn't launch anymore, and I had downloaded it from a source that offered a cracked version of the program, because I did not have 5,500 yen to pay each month for the program, but that source seems to be gone now, and I was forced to switch to Clip Studio Paint.
