Huge thanks to those who responded to my last journal. I was able to find a solution that gets the colors about 95-98% where I want them. And in any case, it's a HUGE improvement over how things looked before.
I've also learned this is a bit of an inherent flaw with Clip Studio Paint. It doesn't actually export pictures with the same colors you see while working in the program, but with a bit of tinkering, you can try and get it as close as possible. This seems VERY odd considering that CSP is mainly intended for artists who make comics. You would think getting colors right would be an important priority. (and for the record, when I draw known cartoon characters, most of my colors come directly from screenshots of the source material, which makes it extra frustrating when they come out looking wrong in the saved picture)
For those curious, here is my current fix to get the colors looking better:
1) Set Color Conversion/Color Profile to RGB: Display or Adobe RGB
2) In Export Settings, be sure "Embed ICC profile" is checked
Again, it's not quite 100%, but it's close enough that I'm much happier with my pictures now. This is one area where Photoshop has the advantage. In my experience, Photoshop has always saved colors correctly, with no need to change any settings. However, with the performance issues I've had with current Photoshop, I still prefer the smooth operation of CSP. Thanks again to those to helped me with this issue. I should have some new art to post later this week.
