This just happened as soon as I got back from Hilton Head, SC.
All I heard was two loud explosions and a pop pop pop. Then a bunch of sirens, and the whole area squad shows up. There's not too many details, but a 20 year old person is now gone. We don't know if it was a suicide, what type of weapon was involved, if there were any other parties. I didn't hear or see anyone running away from the area. Right now, all I know is someone died of a shooting, but nothing more than that. I did see a lot of folks who were related to the guy who was shot, and it was an incredibly sad scene.
All I can say is....we are all stuck here. We aren't here for an endless party, we are here to reform ourselves. That's what god sent us all into life for. And this is far from reforming ourselves. We've pretty much foresaken ourselves, forsaken men and women and all the good that makes us human. Last night someone died needlessly either by suicide, homicide or some other means. But nothing good came out of it.
This just happened outside my doorstep, and its not a happy time. And good people are trying out there.
Mr. Rogers even said always look for the people who are trying to help. There always are. And our culture is in dire need of people who are willing to help others. Through some difficulty such as an unplanned pregnancy, in need of a job, housing....you name it. People need help.
And standing by destructive behaviors and beliefs aren't going to bring this 20 year old man back. I'm gonna go to church later tonight to talk to my spiritual advisor about this.
So my message to all of you who read this, go and try and help others that need it.
