60 thumbnails per page - trial

Hi everyone

We used to limit gallery view to 30 thumbnails per page, but we are now trialling a maximum of 60 per page.

This lets you see more thumbnails without having to click "Next Page" so often.

If the site performance and load on our bandwidth can cope with the new doubled limit, then we'll keep it.

So far it looks fine but please report any performance issues you notice.

Thanks!

Is this a selectable option, or something planned to be hard-coded?  Users with limited connectivity may have concerns about performance and/or bandwidth.  :-)

If my esoteric resources can handle 60 thumbnails per page no one has anything to complain about, but I'm sure you're not /forced/ to have any given number display per page.

I like it for myself; there's a tiny slowdown in rendering under Firefox, but barely noticeable. I agree with Fluffdance here on making it a selectable option; perhaps in the Settings rather than on the page directly, since people probably will not need to change it often--just find one setting that works for you, and keep it there. I could've sworn such an option already existed with 30 being the maximum value... but I can't find it so I'm probably misremembering.

Works well for me, but as stated before a choice of how many thumbnails to show per page would be nice.

Works fine for me, but I'm running a fairly good computer so I'm not sure if that's a good benchmark. =o Options are always nice, possibly a 30/60/120 choice would be good? =)

Perhaps an even lower-end option for those on slow connections or portable devices--like a "mobile mode" that temporarily disables background effects and drops the thumbnail limit to something around 10-15ish. I may not have Internet enabled on my phone (though it does have a touchscreen and could probably handle a browser, it's not running one of the "modern" smartphone OSes) but my 3DS is occasionally used for browsing on the go. >:3

Not a bad suggestion. =3

This is a very good development. Can't wait for the 100 (or 120) thumbnails per page. |=(:3

Seems to be working great here!

It works awesome for me, and I have a ten year old computer running Intel Celeron M and half a gig of RAM. I do have medium fast internet, and Google Chrome working for me though, which helps. But I don't see any reduction in performance. As stated though, it would be a good idea to let users select how many thumbnails they can see in their settings, so people with slower internet/computers can have an easier time surfing Inkbunny.
