March has my birthday and it's been pretty hectic. Spent most of it sick and having to look for new work since my original job in the food sector essentially said "Don't come back."
Got a handful of posts coming through shortly for those still keeping an eye on me (appreciate your patience) Most of them are works I'd done years ago and had been sitting on moping and doping about edits and narrative and thinking about integrating plot points through every chapter until I finally shelved the project only a few months ago.
During my sick time I went back over my notes for changes and re-read the work itself... and promptly decided I was trying way too hard to write plot for my porn parts. Heaven forbid chapters be spent on just general-sexy shenanigans, right?
So I'm starting a file dump first thing April first, (no fooling) and to those watching my Patreon, I will have a progress report of the Renamon Dating(ish) sim? RPGmaker Erotica? Well anyways, more will be up there about it tomorrow as well.(Some foolin' around but mostly not 😉) Link here: https://www.patreon.com/BabysittingRenamom
Sounds a lot like my month. Bday, sickness, nearly lost job in food sector (still worried about it), working on old projects that I put too much plot into for porn (why can't I ever just write smut? And why does it bother me so much that I can't just write smut? Plots a good thing, right?).

I finally had to come to the consensus that ultimately, the primary content of this site is smut/porn. And that if I want to add a *pinch* of dramatic flare, or base it in one of many narrative universes with minimal impact on it, that's fine. But if I want to write a mutli-book saga in another universe, I may as well do so in an environment that may actually appreciate it and put it up as an actual "book" on Amazon, or fur-affinity, or other more commonly frequented site for less pornographic content.
The point, always, is to create. Yes. But why try to build an ice sculpture in the town square of Florida in summer? Yes, you'll have made a statement in the (exceedingly brief) window it is witnessed... but what statement exactly? The phrase "all flash and no substance" exists for ideas like these because they likely don't leave a lasting impression despite the spectacle.
You can make an argument for the creation of all forms of art, but... is what you felt what those you intended reach felt when they saw it? It helps to be in the right mindset. It'd be silly to feed someone a ghost pepper before a new kind of mellow icecream, right? (Unless the point of the icecream was medicinal) Focus on what you're trying to evoke, both within yourself and others, and then decide where you should be for it to be executed most effectively.
Some people post in the wrong places deliberately, because they (Rightly/wrongfully/irrelevantly) believe they aren't good enough (or occasionally simply don't know where) to go where the true venue their ideas should be brought forward to experience. It's also a typical logical fallacy to attempt to justify smut with plot, and occasionally vice versa. Though this is obviously less common, as people aren't typically badgered into believing stories with strong narrative plots are bad. However, some folks need the outlet that smut provides to feel they can even dip a toe in the "nigh unapproachable unknown of creative eternity" which is storytelling except through a comfortable avenue.

I suppose, all this to say, "A healthy balance is 50% give, 51% take. And I know what you're thinking, that's bad math... But guess what, if you're actually doing your best and providing everything you are able to contribute constructively. If you're doing it right, you will be adding more value than you will be taking already. Stop wondering what you can't, and start doing what you can. Ideally, do what you do best no matter what that looks like, even if you don't like doing it. If you're good at it, odds are good you can help a lot of people. That'll almost always make it easier to do what you want to with your 51%." ~ T.C. 2004
