In some pf my scifi fan-fics, I postulate various destinies for crappy mankind.
Replacement, already underway, by new gene-spliced mutant peoples: Ratones, Ruvians, canidians, felidians, otterines, ranids, mephitians, delphians, ... Hawking foresaw replacement and breakdown of human nations in 100 years. It will take super=intellegences to guide the new species to avoid the mistakes old mankind is still making. THEY WHO SIT UPSTAIRS IN DARKNESS ..
But in reality, it may be like the book AFTER MAN (by Dougal Dixon)., life on earth 50 million years after the death of the LAST human ...
