I thought about trying to do one of those "Year in Review" posts like a lot of artists do but I didn't really sort out a good way to do that. It's not quite the same posting tiny screencapped paragraphs or title+subject thumbnails from stories in each month as it would be to post a collection of images, so instead I'm going to post a hopefully short journal about the last year.
I started writing smut a long time ago when I would get bored in hotels while out on the road for work. It was something I found I enjoyed immensely, though didn't do very often after that. After some friends found out I write smut, especially in sci-fi and fantasy worlds, I wrote up a couple fanfics for birthday presents. Finally after all the nonsense of 2020 caused me to really shift my priorities in life, and after a ton of encouragement from some furry friends and especially my mate who has supported me completely and without reservation in this adventure, I decided to go live taking commissions.
That's where you fine folk come in. Though my audience is still small, I cannot believe how much some of you actually enjoy my work. It has meant a lot to me knowing that there are even a handful of furs that have been eagerly awaiting this post to allow me to me tell their next story. So to look at 2021, I started this account in February. (not everything mentioned below is posted on IB, or publicly)
- 12 commissioned stories - 5 YCH's from 2 story bases; I feel like these are weird so I'm amazed they get any traction, but I hope to do more - 5 story requests for my mate/friends -Still managed to work on several personal writing projects, including starting what is going to be a pretty massive Zelda project
I have a lot of practice still to do. I need to do a better job creating a mindspace where I can focus, find ways to create the zone where I can cruise along and slam out words. I need to expand how I describe certain elements; as I read other authors I enjoy I'm constantly impressed with parts of their craft, and try to make note of how I can improve my own work. I have a website. It needs a lot of work. I hate doing that work, but it needs doing. It'll get there eventually.
So to wrap this up because it's almost 2 AM and I have work in a few hours, I want to give a heartfelt thank you to all you who have commissioned me, who have watched my account, favorited my works or even given them a passing glance. I am more excited than you can know to be able to say "Thank you to my readers." My readers.
So, my readers, if you have any thoughts on what you would like to see from me, or even "your thumbnail font is trash" type suggestions, don't hesitate. I want to hear them.
