Hello everyone!
Yeah, it's really a matter of spectacular timing. After about 3 years of avoiding being sick, I finally caught something the other night. And I felt it coming too. Classic symptoms of some sort cold with a dry throat, the occasional cough and a runny nose. Bleh, it's not fun.
Another part of that great timing is that this happened AFTER I finished the main pages of the comic. Right now, I'm working on some extra pages to close out the issue, and then it's onto some new sketches for the second issue. At the moment though, being sick is making me feel pretty heavy and tired, so I won't be able to work on the computer as often as I would like to.
I also thought of something pretty important that has to do with the structure of the comic going forward. In finishing some of the scripts for future pages, I found that a lot of focus is being placed on the main characters with very little room for filler or points to break away to other locations. In one of the future issues, I start the comic in a different location with a different character before returning to the main plot. This brief prologue in the comic is important, and I think it will at least let you know that there are things happening elsewhere in the world.
I thought to myself, "What if I add a scene like this at the beginning of each comic on an as needed basis?" If we are going to spend a lot of time listening to story progression, I could at least show a glimpse of what is happening somewhere else maybe even giving information that is relevant later with some light foreshadowing. There may be times when we want to get straight into the story without being distracted, that's why these brief openings will be done on an as needed basis.
If there is one thing I'm concerned about it's having too much dialogue to go through. I will definitely have to keep this in mind as I review the script for a second draft edit.
