Hello everyone!
First off, the big news for today -the first issue of Equestria In Crisis S2 is complete! Anything I do from this point is auxiliary content to add on to the end of the comic.
Something that might be confusing is why I'm constantly saying "issue" instead of "chapter". This mostly has to do with my way of looking at the comic project as more of a series that happens one book at a time much like a normal comic book series. If it were a manga, I would consider everything chapters that are part of a bigger whole. EQCrisis is marketed as a comic series with a new cover for each chapter and a "to be continued" at the end that closes the events until the next issue.
I'm a fan of physical media, so it's very likely that I will send EQCrisis out to a printing company to make physical copies and they will all start with "Issue #1". I could not do the same thing with EQCrisis S1 because I drew everything in the landscape orientation. Little did I know that reading a comic in this style is just not possible irl. That's a big reason why the orientation changed for S2.
Overall, I think this is a much more familiar way to read the comic. There is one thing that's weird however - in manga, it could take hundreds of chapters to get to significant plot points before finishing the story. For EQCrisis, I can only imagine about 50 issues to finish the story. And that's on the optimistic side. If each issue were a chapter, would 50 be enough? I guess it will depend on the depth of the content. It's honestly just a guesstimate. I'm already on the script for Issue 4 and with the way I have things planned, we reach a huge event by issue 9 or 10.
We'll just have to wait and see.
The newest page for the comic will be going up on Twitter soon (12/22/21) and then later tonight on InkBunny. The last official page is scheduled for next week. There is still a lot of groundwork to get through, but things will ramp up soon~
