Today is Wednesday, November 24, and that means tomorrow is Thanksgiving (celebrated in the U.S.), so here's to wishing all my friends and followers a very Happy Turkey Day!!
Regarding a different kind of turkey, today is also the 33rd Anniversary of the debut of Mystery Science Theater 3000, the landmark cable phenom that comedian Joel Hodgson and crew launched on (what was then) KTMA in Minneapolis. The show ran for a season, got picked up by Comedy Central and, coincidentally, had its cable debut a year and a day later on November 25, 1989. Folks, that's tomorrow, Turkey Day. Since the Comedy Central airing represents—what is for most of us—the first opportunity to gobble down on this most creative and unusual of ventures, I am commemorating the event with a Youtube link to the, ahem, turkey that got the cheese-ball rolling: the Chiller Theater staple, The Crawling Eye: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iNGXNE_fPs Enjoy, and let Joel, Crow and Tom Servo take you back to those heady days when cable TV was a new frontier and anything, including MST3K, was possible. ^•^
