Lookin' for a 3080+ RTX Card! For money or ART? ;o

by
I know it's farfetch'd, but HEY! If any of y'all got connections to something relatively MSRP ("relatively") - I'm lookin' for a new GPU!

I'm basically looking for something in the 1500$ range, (but I DONT wanna drop that much on a 3080.)

3090 at msrp? sure.
3080TI at msrp or a bit more? aight.
3080? hopefully around 1k or so. plus or minus a bit.

I've got money, but I can also draw for it if that's more to your fancy. (Haven't been open for commissions for years so some folks might prefer that.)

Let me know, if anyone has any hook ups!

Aside from that BEEN A HOT FUCKIN' MINUTE EH?

I've been up to a ton of stuff aside from game dev! TFOL's been going great! And 3D shiz has been going great too. I'll be doing a new Carrot Talk relatively soon, so keep an eye out!

Hope y'all have been well. I'd like to be more active on social media stuff these days, but we'll see how that goes.

UPDATE~!

This totally worked, got a 3080 Ti :>! 2 Days ago someone poked me, and today it delivered and I have it :>

Thanks for looking and/or spreading the word!

Yeah join the club pal. If in need that bad, just swallow it and take the price hike at newegg, least you are getting screwed from a ligit source, new from factory in box, and not from some IB rando that wants free stuff for something suspect to begin with. Never buy used  PC hardware, always get new, so you can RMA if it goes sour.

TBH probably good advice xD!

I'll still keep an ear out though. Friends is how I got my 3070 a while ago.

They're still super hard to come by, and buying third-party is just not worth it, due to scalpers being cunts and jacking prices way up.

From what I've heard Nvidia is still trying to fulfill orders from December - February.

I was one of the first people in my city to put a pre-order down on a 3080 the day they released, and around a month later I got it.

Which is extremely fuckin' lucky, because I thought it would basically never happen.

Nice!

Yeah, It's not super mandatory for me to get one anytime soon. I have a 1080 TI from my older machine that i'll be using. I mainly wanted this new upgrade for a new CPU for blender animation. (not rendering, just animating) So I can definitely wait.

I heard something about the 4000 series, so maybe that'll be the new craze. Though 2ks are still hard to get your hands on too so pfff~

Oh well, I'm sure something will turn up eventually!

Good luck on getting it. If I didn't have a 2080 I'd probably wait until the chip shortage gets somewhat resolved, probably sometime late next year, so the supply is more able to meet demand. Scalping will still be an issue though, but hopefully the price will be much lower by then. Yeesh $1,700 is absolutely nuts.

Yeah for real! Pretty lame lmao

But there are some folks getting them for something more appropriate these days, so who knows. Fingers crossed, but it's not too much of a necessity atm!

Even the 20 series is expensive right now as well, so it's not a good time to buy a graphics card if money is tight. I'm kind of interested in a PS5, but yeah that ain't happening either.

Haha!

Yeah if I'm being 100% honest, the games I play absolutely don't warrant anything close to that. BUT, I do want it for better render times with blender >o>!

Not too necessary just yet though, but I'll be keeping my eyes out :>

I am certain there are professional GPU's you can snag that would do well in Blёnder and not cost a crap load.

Join the club.  I work professional in the industry. I have to borrow work computers to get things done.  If I ain't finding one you are going to have a very hard time too.  Also ask reddit and not here.  As much as I have good faith in people. I don't trust some here as far as I could throw them. But right now the market is hurting due to a major major computer chip shortage.   Good luck on this endeavor. Hopefully you find something :) .

Might want to consider amd/ati recent 5000 series as more practical vga card option. A nvidia 3090 is incredibly rare right now. It's not necessary for conventional art or games, however it's useful for 3d rendering.
The reason i stick with Amd/Ati is mostly for cross OS platform compatibility including Linux. Nvidia is very picky when it comes to what system an drivers will work with it. I tested a 3090 on my 3960x cpu hedt system and the results were mixed.
Just something to think about.

I know a few sellers in my local area that have parts in. Let me check real quick and I'll get back to you as to what they have and the cost.

$1500 will get you maybe a 3070 on a VERY GOOD DAY... People are re-selling their 980 Ti's for over $1000 so you're not going to get anything at msrp at least not until crypto mining is banned. It's going to get worse as time goes on to boot

be easier to build a time machine carrot

I'm from a relatively small town and the Best Buy here has quite a few 30 series cards for sale at the standard price. I can certainly check in with a friend there to see what's available. I managed to get myself a 3070 for ~$600 CAD
