About The Sonic Origin's Collection...

Can you tell me why people are interested in yet another
port of the Genesis/CD games? I get S3 & K are in this
collection but all you're getting is a game stretched to fit
modern TV screens, there's nothing new or innovative in
them, and they're not even the superior mobile versions
that had all the improvements and even extra stage as
was in S2 via Hidden Palace Zone.

Now...

If every single game, S1, S2, S3, S&K, and CD were all
getting an extraordinary Sonic Mania overhaul in their
graphics on TOP of being stretched to fit modern screens
then okay, I could totally go for that, even for FULL PRICE.

Especially if the music all got remastered.

And even better if S2 contained Hidden Palace Zone.

But for just another collection port...?

Sorry but I still have my Nintendo GameCube and the ports
that were on that so...

Yeah...

Explain why anyone should care or want/buy it?

That's the thing. Not everyone has a gamecube, or the willingness to just emulate the old ones on PC (and the steam-released versions are... iffy at best). So it's putting a product out that people will still buy. Why? I dunno, nostalgia sells well these days. Just look at all the shitty Disney remakes they're cramming down our throat right now for another example of that.

And it's cheaper safer lazier easier than coming up with new ideas.

Is it being stretched? I thought it was supposed to be hoenst to goodness widescreen expansion

I call that stretched for the most part.

I'd call it stretched if it actually did nothing but literally stretch the picture to fill the wider aspect ratio. A real wider picture with more viewing space is pretty dope for just about any game, though.

i dunno, i still have my genesis cartridges so i guess you could say its for nostalgia and those that don't have the original gear.

It depends on how much this collection will change. If they can make it the quality of the mobile ports, where the Special Stages run wayyyyy smoother, on top of all the quality changes, then that would be something. The widescreen thing I know they ARE doing, so they are tweaking the games if they're expanding your view horizon.

That and price; so long as it isn't that much then people might want them- but they need to have additions that better justify the purchase for a lot of people.
