The Fandom Has a Cherry Picking Problem...

Recently another furry website decided to update it's AUP and declared that any art depicting "any underage characters in adult situations" would no longer be allowed on the site. Basically speaking, the site had banned cub yiff media. Whenever this type of ban happens, people say it's due the pay servers finding out about the content or that an influx of younger furs are coming into the Fandom. Just various excuses. We all know that cub stuff in the Fandom is a bit of a touchy subject in the Fandom. But the question is this: why is cub such a taboo thing, but things like beastality and porn content depicting acts of rape and basically murder seem to pass by the PC police just fine?

Ladies and gentlemen of the furry community, we have a problem with cherry picking.

For those confused by the term, "cherry picking" is a phrase used to describe the act of picking out content that either suits/disagrees with one's ideals or tastes, but leaving everything else alone. A famous example is how most Evangelical Christians say that God called homosexuality a sin, but ignore all the other things listed as a sin in the same area of scripture like eating shellfish and getting tattoos. Cherry picking can also be done as a means of trying to better/vilify the image of one's self or others.

For a while now, the Fandom has developed the habit of cherry picking when it comes to certain content shown on furry sites. The reason for the cherry picking varies, with some being rather valid; while others make no sense. Cub yiff is often the content that is called to be banned most of the time, however the reasons why come into question when noticing how other content is treated. One example that is often given for the removal of cub yiff is that various pay sites like AlertPay will pull out over such content. However when some sites state this as a reason, one can't help but to notice that other yiff content on said site could also cause issues; yet are clearly ignored. One would assume that yiff containing acts of rape and death would wave a few red flags, yet they are most often glanced over.

Some furry sites ban content depicting acts of beastality. However one main reason why isn't because it's a rather taboo thing, but because most beastality content depicts a human character; and some furry sites wish to be sans human because there is a slew of other sites for such content that already exist. There are a few furry sites though that ban it because it's taboo, yet the reason seems moot when those sites also show content depicting unsavory things.

Furs within the Fandom try to give their own reasons for the banning of certain content, but even those reasons fall flat given the mounting evidence against it. One of the reasons given for the removal of cub content is that such media gives the Fandom a bad image and makes us look like sick freaks. If that is the case, then why is content depicting rape, torture, and death still allowed to go by censorship when they also are just as sick and freaky? Also why is it that cub content is being barred, when characters that could clearly be underage, like some Pokémon and basically any Digimon below the champion stage, are allowed to filter through? The Rookie stage in Digimon is called the Child stage in Japan, and there is a good handful of Pokémon that can be classed as being underage with some even being called baby Pokémon. However when it comes to the banning of cub yiff content, these characters are given the pass with the excuse that they go by levels or can shift between stages so they really can't be counted as cub. When beastality is banned, art that depicts a human with an anthropomorphic character or an anthropomorphic character with a feral character is allowed to pass by dispite also falling into beastality. Does it not count because there is an anthro involved?

The point is, cherry picking in the Fandom doesn't really make any sense when some things are ignored, and things that would fall under a taboo subject can get a pass thanks to certain conditions. What do you think about the cherry picking? Please leave your thoughts in comments section below.

Most people like cub porn, at least a bit I think. That makes them uncomfortable and I think that's one reason it gets banned everywhere. (Woke furries might be another reason.)

I think the main reason it gets banned is due to Fandom getting too shell-shocked whenever something happens. Thanks to the pandemic, people are online more than ever. Because of this and the fact that people can't seem to separate fantasy from reality, furry sites are trying to purge cub porn like a bunch of pot heads flushing their stash whenever someone mentions the cops. Also we have those asshats in the Fandom that can't keep their furry life and normal life separate from one another, so the out and vocal fox on Facebook is freaking out that the increased internet traffic might bring grandma across his stash furry Boy Scouts porn.

Maybe. There are probably several reasons for all this.

I'm sure the reasons vary. However there are some reasons that are straight up ridiculous.

"AlertPay threatened to stop funding us."

Then find another pay site. Heck a donation page helped out in the past. Bring it back!

"We got rid of the content because it put the Fandom in a bad light."

So rule 34 of Little Bear and Paw Patrol is a no-no, however yiff art that looks like a scene out of "Dexter" is somehow just fine. A pic of someone getting gang raped is fine to post on the site, yet a pic of a cub Nick Wilde having fun with a Scout master crosses the line. Could you care to explain how fetish x makes us look bad, yet fetish y is safe?

"Too many people complained about the content on the site."

I'm sure they did, however you shouldn't bowl over for the complainers. Half of the people complaining may likely be doing so because the content isn't properly tagged (Inkbunny sometimes has this issue), and others that are complaining are likely trolls wanting to cause drama. Keep in mind that if you bend over backwards to purge a type of content that some people complain about, pretty soon you have to see other content go as well because people complained about those.

"The content could be used for child grooming."

That can go for any content on the site and not just cub. It's art of cartoon animals bonking! While you're at it, go to your government and outlaw ice-cream trucks, gaming stores, candy shops, cartoons, theme parks, toys, Happy Meals... Basically anything fun! All of that can be used for child grooming along with a metric fuck ton of other things I haven't listed! Go forth and make society as we know it too damn dull to live in anymore for the sake of all the precious little children!
