Time to break it in!

Well, some time between when I put my computer into hibernate mode Friday night and turning it back on Saturday morning, my motherboard's only PCI slot died on me... And, unfortunately, that's the slot my sound card was in. >_< I had the ability to listen to audio via my wireless headset, but that only gets 10 hours on a charge, and can become uncomfortable after extended periods of wearing it. It was driving me nuts, so after I got off work yesterday, Bay and I went up to Best Buy. Now, since my PCI slot died, that meant I needed to get a PCI-E 1x compatible sound card, which thankfully is becoming more common. Unfortunately, Best Buy only had two, so I ended up having to drop $150 on the Sound Blaster Recon3D Fatal1ty card. The other one was only a bit less, but it was designed to work with XP/Vista, and only had a sticker slapped on the front saying "Works with Windows 7." >_> No, thanks. I'll take the one I know was DESIGNED for my OS.

So, yeah, TL:DR; got a new sound card and I wanna break it in by throwing a bunch of loud noises at it, and the best way to do that is to play games with lots of noises in them. :B

Dear jebus. $150 for a sound card? Certainly they had USB sound adapters for less.

They didn't, and USB ones are crap anyway.

That sucks that it's your PCI slot that called it quits. I hope that your PCI-E slot is at least working
