Where in the world was Liam?

So I bet a few of you were wondering where I've been. For that, I'll have to take you back to September..

So back then, I had noticed a growth starting to form on my back near my neck, I could barely feel it, so I thought nothing of it and went on with my way. It wasn't until I started to feel pain in it that I though to get it checked out.

So I went to a local clinic, the kinds popping up everywhere right now, and they looked at it and told me it was a cist, did a small xray and referred me to a surgeon. Of course with covid right now, everything is delayed so I waited and waited until I could get in to see him...

He takes one look at it and tells me that there's no way its a cist. Its a Lipoma, or fatty tumor. Of course I wasn't worried because 90% of them are benign and if it was cancer, well I was just dead anyways with how long they had me wait so there was no use worrying.

So after a few visits, they finally set a surgery date at the very start of November. I went in a but nervous, but I was out and home that same day.

Turns out it wasn't a lipoma, but a Hybernoma which has even LESS chance of being cancer, so I wasn't worried, and felt even better knowing it was a birth defect and nothing wrong.

I spent two weeks recovering on the couch, Meanwhile, the dr had put a drain into my back that had to be changed every few hours, and we took care of that while it was in. In two weeks I saw the dr again, and he had to take it out.

He looked over the drain, looked over the surgery area, and told me everything looked good and everything looked fine.

Everything was not fine....

The day after he removed it, I got sick, really really sick. The kind of sick where you lay on the couch and throw up in a pan and don't move all day. I thought I had just caught something but after it didn't clear overnight I thought to call my dr.

I spent the entire day trying to get a hold of my dr. He would not answer his phones, and no one else at the location wanted to help me. Meanwhile I had a 100+ temperature and was dryheaving at that point because I couldn't puke anymore.

Finally, another dr at the location told me "look, we can't get a hold of him, you should probably go to the Er." This advice literally saved my life

I was driven down to the ER Where I was admitted right away on temperature alone. I had a temperature at about 104, where 105 can start causing permanent damage, and I didn't know it at the time, But stage 3 sepsis, Stage 4 is where your individual organs start shutting down.

Turns out the drain had gotten incredibly infected. The first part of my stay was a blur and I felt so bad for a few of the staff that had to take care of me, but once the infection took root it started messing with my other stuff, and I had to get 3 surgeries all together while in the hospital over a 2 week period.

those two weeks were absolute hell. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. but I was up and moving by then.

Since then, I've just been recovering. Taking things slow, My wounds have completely healed and Last week I returned to work.

I finally felt up to doing some art, so its good to be back!
