This is the stupidest gripe ever, and basically no one will read it (at least no one that hasn't heard this rant before, lol), but I really wish people would tag socks better.
tl;dr - A picture should only be tagged for socks if there is at least one sock actually being worn AND that sock is like 90% visible AND it's an actual sock (that last one, ugh, c'mon y'all). Yes I have suggested tags for other situations, but let's move on to the actual rant.
WALL O' TEXT:
For starters, the sheer volume of stuff that is in no way a sock that still gets tagged as socks is super fuckin' irritating.
Like Judy Hopps, for example. She has those ankle brace things, right? I mean, I thought they were part of her pants, but rule34 artists are obsessed with depicting her with them on and nothing else, so...whatever, we'll call them a separate article of clothing. BUT STOP CALLING THEM SOCKS! They're clearly a material like neoprene or something, it has a rubber-ish texture and there's straight-up reinforcing plates attached to it (same material as her kneepads). There's also NO FUCKING TOES!
THEY. ARE. NOT. SOCKS.
Similarly, leg-warmers ARE NOT SOCKS. Stockings ARE NOT SOCKS. These things have their own names, and should be tagged accordingly. I'd personally also love it if people tagged toe socks as toe socks because I fuckin' hate toe socks, but that's definitely just me quibbling, so let's move on.
I also REALLY wish there was a tag for when there are socks in the picture but no one's wearing them. Like...why would you even do that? If you're actively catering to the people who have a kink for seeing socks that are NOT on someone's feet, that's great! But help them out! Tag it as "socks on floor" or something!
And finally, similar to the above but less specific, over-tagging in general is a huge pain in the ass. If I'm looking for hot sock stuff, I don't want to have to wade through a sea of people wearing shoes because someone tagged it for socks since you can just barely see the tiniest bit of the top of the ankle of a sock. Tag that shit as "barely visible sock" or something, there are people who want to see just a bit of sock after all.
To summarize, yeah, I'm talking about socks, but this applies to literally everything: just tag better, y'all. Not more. Better. More is more. Better is better. Feel free to do both, but let's focus on the latter, yeah?
