Dumb Keyboard!

My laptop keyboard is messed up, the D key isn't working right. I have to press really hard to make it work. But when I'm just typing fast, it doesn't give me the D when I want it!

It's so frustrating not getting the D i need! :c

Pop the key off and play around in the hole a little bit to excite it, then put the key back on and gently depress and let up very rapidly until you see sparks.

If you have a disk top key board you can hook it up to the laptop and use it that way. If need be. ;-)

might be time for a little open part surgery. not that expensive to replace but a little difficult to figure out how to get the bezel off the computer

If it were mine I would replace the keyboard; Laptops are challenging to work on but there are lots of YouTube videos that demonstrate how to take them apart and fix them. Just be be very careful with the connectors. They are easily damaged. You can probably find a cheap replacement part on Ebay or Amazon.

Heh. Jokes aside, this could actually work - make a key re-mapping. There's some programs out there that can assign a key to another key. Here's an article for Win10 - but similar exists for all operating systems https://beebom.com/how-remap-keyboard-windows-10/

Then, whenever you need a D you just press F12 - or another of the rarely used F-keys - and you get your D.

It's not perfect, but at least a workaround until you get your D fixed :)

The wording on that~

Sadly not sure, since you did the clenaing, maybe the contact itself might be borked

if you have already removed all the keys to the keyboard (assuming desktop keyboard, not laptop) then my next suggestion would depend on how comfortable you are with part repairs, and if your okay with it, I'd suggest a total tear-down of the keyboard and cleaning using Isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts, assuming there's no debris making this problem a thing, cleaning the contacts should help if any gunk got down into the circuitry...I have not yet done that with any of my keyboards given I've not yet had that problem, however I've definitely done it with gpu's and other devices like gaming consoles, for the specific purpose of cleaning and applying newer better thermal paste.  everything I've done that with has been totally worth it, including my 1080s before they got retired, and my 2080 before it began usage.  everything has had better thermals from it, so if your willing to risk it, its worth it if you know what your doing.
