Help Wanted!

by
Writing is complete for our new furry, fantasy game. The final word count is just over 100,000. That's longer than most novels! Get ready for one long, RPG adventure ^_^

As development of our game shifts to the next phase, we're looking for help. This is a massive project and we want to get it in your hands as soon as possible. Any help from the community will go a long way.

We're looking for people to help in the following areas:

- Art (drawing the sketchbook-style images that will appear in-game)
- Editing (reviewing the text for the game and fixing any areas)
- Sound Effects (we need someone to help design and assign sound effects in-game)
- Music (create music for the trailer, menu, credits, and in-game)
- Narration (produce a read-over of the story text)
- Public Relations (help represent the game on social media)
- Testing (test the game and its crazy number of branches, will be needed later)

If you're interested, or know anyone that might be, please contact us. Thank you!

Wow!   That's very exciting!   And it's always nice to see when people actually seem organized with projects.   There are so many potentially good sounding projects that just seem like a mess. hah

Depending on time frames... I might be able to help with editing/proof reading... and I'd love to do some voice acting/narration.   The way things currently are, I don't have tons of time to record where there's not background stupidity going on (hah), but I can try to squeeze some things in here and there and in the coming weeks, I might have more time.   Are you looking to do all 100,000 words narrated?

BTW... I was curious what that works out to compared to a standard novel.   Looks like it would be roughly equivalent to a 400 page novel.  Pretty sizable but not insurmountable.

Thank you  :3  Yes, we're looking to have the entire story narrated.  This would be roughly equivalent to a 350 - 400 page novel.  We've got plenty to do and would always appreciate your help.  If things settle down and you have more available time in the future, please let us know  :)

If you feel like it, send along some sample text and if you have a general feel/flavor you're looking for, send that too.   I'd be happy to do a sample or two and maybe play around with different styles based on how the material feels.

A good audition for voice acting / narration is here: https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~rgs/alice-IX.html

Try reading a few paragraphs.  We'd love to hear it  :)

Hah...  funny enough, I have me reading the Jabberwocky I recorded ages ago.  Not perfect, but it's "an example":

I'll see about reading some of the Alice stuff you link too, sometime soon.

How's this?  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JLb78YYeh3BwXFNK_jdRhI...

I'm not 100% happy with the pacing.  There could be a little more space between some sentences.  I didn't try to do character voices (not sure Alice, the Duchess and the Queen are within my "range" :)  Since I didn't do those three, I didn't try for the King, Gryphon or Mock Turtle.   I think I should be able to do certain character voices.  I did do basic inflections and emotes.. some based on the emphasis in the text, but I don't think I got them all exactly right.

Also, if the text is more narration than voices, and if it was more of a fantasy (like traditional D&D type fantasy), I would approach the narration differently.

You have an excellent voice.  Your annunciation is fantastic and very clear.  You're right about the pace!  In animation, the voice work can be fast because the viewer has visual information to help them understand what's going on.  In narration, you need to give the listener time to develop the mental image.  Also, shifting pace allows you to control the mood.

All that said, great work!  Thanks so much for sharing.  You should keep with this, you've got talent!  We have decided to put more emphasis on narration for the entire game vs. voice acting for characters  :3

You're very kind, thank you.  I think reading in my own voice, like I did, isn't as good as when I tweak it up a little for dramatic narration, but sometimes with voices, all you need is "a different voice".  So even people who can't do specific things, just having a different voice can be useful.   So, if nothing else, I can be a "different voice".  But I enjoy tweaking things up a bit too.  My favorite is the super cheesy "SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!" announcer type voice.   The worst/best line is "we'll sell you the whole seat but you'll only need the edge"   hah

Anyway, feel free to hit me up any time.  I'm happy to play around with different themes/flavors/challenges.  If I can't do what you want, cool.  No hard feelings.   Or even if I do something and you plan to use it but find someone better, that's fine too.

Also, probably obvious on IB, but I'm kink-friendly and open minded.

Thank you, again, for the extremely kind words.
