I'll spare you the details of the move, but it was expensive for the system and a humongous pain in the ass for me. The print shop is moved (this is around April 2018) and my co-worker and I have settled in. The original terms were that the Print Shop would be in one half of the building and the other half would house the Exceptional Children Dept. Just when I was starting to be comfortable, Guess What? The Effing suits do a walk-through...I am informed that the EC dept (who, like HG Well's martians have been observing with covetous eyes) will be taking over half of our area as well and they want my office. Of course that was the last damned straw for me. At the end of July the EC people were moving in, so I checked to see if I had worked long enough to retire without losing money. As I told my supervisor when we moved the shop, my next move would be leaving the system.
Retirement wasn't bad, because I was able to be home with Dad and my brother (who had been Dad's primary caregiver). I am a very good cook so I was able prepare meals and take some of the load off my brother.
In September 2019 Dad's health started to deteriorate and he was in and out the hospital. He was home for Thanksgiving , had a relapse and was back at the hospital, he was home for Christmas but the next day, another relapse.
