As most if not all of you may know, Mario has taken up the identity of a doctor, but... We really don't see him do "Doctor" like things...
Other than throw pills into a jar that contains little viruses, even Shigeru Miyamoto has said that Mario's side job as a doctor is not as concrete as we'd been led on to think, going so far as to not let "Dr. Mario" operate on him.
And so this is where my theory comes in, I'm also not sure if someone else had the same idea as well, so please don't say that I stole someone else's theory in the comments.
And with that out of the way, let's start with the reason Dr. Mario became a doctor; the Viruses. These little guys are only neutralized if they're hit with the pill that matches their body colors, so this got me thinking, the Viruses are just bugs that're only killed with a special substance I.E. bug spray/repellent, and maybe this substance is found in the pills.
And why Dr. Mario wears a doctor costume? Well it could be that when Mario preforms some special tasks, he likes to wear costumes explained in the video: "Dr. Mario is NOT A DOCTOR!" by YouTuber Nicobbq.
As Iv'e said before please don't be mean in the comments if someone else had this same theory, this all comes down to just being video games and the creative ideas about them. If someone else had this thought as well, please give a link to the theory. Thank you, and good night.
