and we're losing our humanity, justifying atrocities even as we fight atrocities...
I'm done with all of you, whoever survives, whatever you think is right, there is no justification for murder.
Rioters have murdered innocent bystanders in the wake of protests, and it's ignored... what makes one death less horrible than another? why are we so outraged over george's death and what it represents, holding those in power accountable... well the rioters are in power in these places now, and they're killing innocent people and i'm told it's justified, i'm told it's what has to be done, i'm told it's a force of nature... i'm told to ignore it and direct my anger elsewhere... No.
I am livid at everyone involved right now, i am beyond words at this perceived inability to be angry at more than one thing, to abhor more than one thing at a time... Do you think those killed by police would shout their approval from on high? Do you think burning down your own homes gets us anywhere? The people feel helpless, but so many among them feel entitled... so many more are simply opportunists and it's tainting the entire movement, this glorious cause to push for something genuine... marred by hate.
George Floyd died, this is a tragedy... and it is being addressed, it pushed the people into action, BUT that does not excuse these opportunistic parasites latching onto this movement and sewing destruction and death any more than it excuses the police macing and firing into crowds... People, people are the problem now, humans giving into their very nature and renouncing their capacity for genuine empathy, hiding behind what is good and eroding it from the inside.
I am disgusted by what i have seen done in the name of justice. I am disgusted by the response of officers claiming to bring peace. There is no right side anymore, as once you are on the ground the line is so blurred as to be indistinguishable, there are rioters escalating, there are police escalating, there are people pointing fingers instead of fixing these issues so that we can make genuine progress as a people, as a species... if you take advantage of the protests to enrich yourself at the expense of the innocent, you are a monster, if you take advantage of the protests to kill a man simply because he tries to stop you from committing a wrong, you are a monster, if you wave your hand and dismiss someone's store going up in flames... in many cases all these people have, then you are a monster. For all of the aforementioned, if you justify any of this, you need to take a look at your morals and values... you need to figure out if you genuinely care about people, or if you're simply acting out of outrage.
Personally, i'm done with all of you. My heart physically cannot handle the stress, and my medicine can't compensate for it. So if any of you decide you actually care about human life, hold every infringement upon it accountable.
