It's not a Remake in fact, it's a REBOOT

But they hide the true meaning of this game...

I mean, the real name of this game (before) should be 'FF7R Part 1'

But no, is only a Remake of a part of the story, (with changes) to later on, make a reboot with multiple parts at 60$ each, and of course, happy world, no one has to die...

I mean.. it was already well known and established these were gonna be released in episodes way before release so it's not like they lied or tricked anyone about it x3
And a remake can vary greatly with how much or little they stick to the original. I think your thinking of a remaster where they mostly stay true to the original with slight changes.

You should have to see the ending, this is Final Fantasy, not Kingdom Hearts...

we still don't know exactly how drastically the changes will be going forward despite what they did with the ending, it's possible more people will die later on, or different people, or the deaths are changed to be later on or earlier depending.

kinda like Rebuild of Evangelion

that last part was exactly what I was thinking; they could alter the order of the deaths... Or add a plot twist to some of them.

At least, the things thye see at flashbacks at the end, so, Aeris is not gonna die like in the original game

They are not gonna remake one of the most iconic scenes in the game...

Sorry, but I played the original game and...it wasn't a good story to begin with. Almost every change they made was a welcome one.

I mean, what a novel concept this remake has: actually acknowledging that blowing up a power plant makes you a terrorist.

Would have worked better if they actually made them blow it up like in the original and didnt make Shinra do selfharm in order to make them look bad.

...Ok, I'll agree with that to an extent. Either way, the heroes still come off as dicks in both versions.

Original: Good job with this operation, but the next explosion's gonna be even bigger!
Remake: Oh shit, that was way too much damage! ...Maybe a slightly smaller explosion will make things better.

except in the original there was optional dialogue jessie says talkign about how the explosion was alot bigger than anticipated

That's only true if considered retrospective spoilage.
It was groundbreaking at the time because everything didn't copy it to death yet.
Plus that was a point of a story, the characters originally started out as random nobodies with little purpose but got dragged into one.
Seems the modern thing now is using trite virtue signaling and standard 4th wall breaking dark & edgy clones of anti-heroes instead of using skilled writers, and random noises passed off as music.
I'd point to how Star fox series was "updated" but got worse as an example.

...THEY BLEW UP A POWER PLANT! Stop pretending that didn't happen!

And the point you aren't getting is they knew they were eco terrorists, shady best-interests of the world at best, and Cloud not giving a shit one way or the other, just wanted pay & something to do. They relied more on implications rather than hand holding the players through the story in the original.

No, I get that. But even though they said they were "saving the planet", they didn't KNOW until they got to Cosmo Canyon and actual confirmation. As written, they wanted revenge against Shinra for screwing them over, and they used "saving the planet" as pretense. And since the final boss was once a Shinra SOLDIER, it's really hard to treat the heroes as anything grander than a revenge posse.

Explain?
I haven't played anything made or remade after 2009 >_>
Wouldn't sound so bad if it was a few added decent alternate endings but the main story kept as a most likely path or such.

they are altering the original story, and not in a good way. I don't want to spoil since the game is still new, but I didnt like the changes.

It sounds like you just want an HD port of a game. I like how Resident Evil remake of 2 and 3, making more sense out of things that no sensible person would do.

Re3 remake is shit. No puzzles.

Nothing.

It's a Nomura joint. This was gonna happen this way no matter what. If anything, it was restrained.

From what I've noticed, it doesn't seem super different with the entire compendium together. Like I think they mentioned blowing up the plant themselves in the expanded talks with Rufus in the whole story. That said, I've had some disappointments with the story. And please never mention "Loveless" again

Though I wonder how much was changed under Kitase...?

I'm surprised it's as similar as it really is ... let us be honest here - when people think Final Fantasy they think Final Fantasy 7 (VII) ... so if you REALLY want to make money on the series use the most popular title, write a new story, call it a "reboot" and then you get to re-release FFVII all over again -__-

... aka ... it's probably a money grab -__-

i see it more like the Rebuild of Evangelion series. except in case this game should absolutely not be for first timers, especially if they arent' familiar with the original story of FF7

I just want to be clear in saying I didn't hate some of the changes because they strayed from the originals; in fact I can point towards more changes I liked than ones I didn't.

But the whole addition of much of what led up to the ending felt completely shoehorned on and, indeed more Kingdom Hearts than any Final Fantasy.

Mild Spoilery, buuut...

Destiny, and most of all what appears to be alternate timelines that they're hinting at, doesn't fit the theme of FF7 at all. And while none of us should have been expecting a one to one remake, we at least expected a faithful one. While most of the game WAS very faithful, this new addition of there being a plot involving defying some vauge and tacked on destiny feels forced at best.

I get that they wanted to try something new...But they could have at least not made it feel so different.

have you watched the Rebuild of Evangelion movies?

Having played the original until the death of the PS1, I actually enjoy the stuff they added.

Combat, though, I still need to get used to. I've only gotten as far as Wall Market, but right now I'm enjoying the story, as well as the development of the Avalanche crew.

Though I know how it's meant to end, I'm still going to be satisfied that they chose to conclude the first game at decent beat like the escape from Midgar rather than the death of Aerith.

One thing I'm not crazy about is Aerith, though. Even though I've just been introduced to her, I'm already a little annoyed with her personality.

It's the ending I have gripes with, that and the padding. Wall Market was awesome.

I haven't finished the Remake and I never played the original beyond the first disc. I don't think I even finished the first disc. I might have just barely gotten to Cosmo Canyon. I know I got past Nibelheim. What I'm about to say is gonna be spoilers for the first several chapters of Remake. Read at your own risk.

So far I really like the characters. They know they're bad guys, they know they're seen as villains. Tifa's conflicted about how much harm what they're doing will cause, even though she knows it's "for the greater good". Barret wants to be seen as a hero and wants people to rise up with him, but everything that happens just makes him look like an evil person to other people and it frustrates the hell out of him. And Cloud...he clearly has mental issues, and doesn't try to get close to people, except for Tifa, and Aerith kinda pushes her way in there too. I really get that Cloud isn't unemotional, he's just cold, and has underlying reasons we don't yet understand fully as to why. All the characters MAKE SENSE.

In the original, I got NONE of this. I didn't stop playing because the materia system was grindy as all getout, I stopped because I didn't care about any of the characters except maybe Tifa and I thought Red XIII was a good boy. That was it. I actually care about all the characters I've met so far, even the minor ones like Jessie's parents.

Well the reason I'm mad is because of the sheer padding and the ending. The ending will make most FFVII fans fume.
