Yeah, but they're occurring at a much higher rate than we're used to with the flu, and the fatality rate among the elderly is alarming. If, like the flu, this becomes a cyclical event we could have some serious issues. People simply can't dodge bullets that often. I'm not saying Armageddon or anything like that, but it would alter our lives for the foreseeable future.

Part of the issue is the press has been telling us to panic about everything for years now because they need sensation to sell news. Everything from Trump to the disappearance of honeybees is a catastrophe about to end the world. Then when a major issue comes down the line where their services are invaluable, people will doubt them because they've been told to panic non stop for years. People will think: "Just another sensational headline" and go about their day. A lot of folks aren't going to take this seriously until people are shooting each other outside their front window.

It IS more dangerous then the reguler flu. not so much so that you need to PANIC. the virus itself is not the problem.
it is just dangerous ENOUGH that if handled imporperly it could choak the medical systems to death and THATS the issue also it's far more infectious then the flu so it could result in a prolonged shut down of services in a worst case sinario.
you will most likely be just fine even if you catch it. Just dont treat it like it's just a bug to not worry about try and take some precuations stay away from obviously sick people dont touch your face, wash your hands freqently. buy all the toilet paper.

we dont know enough to say for sure yet but based on the numbers that we DO have it seems like this thing has another 2 months or so in it before things start to calm down.

I've noticed the prevalence of toilet paper during events of extreme duress. A few years back they were covering some looting on the news and pretty much EVERYONE was carrying around tp that they had stolen. You smashed in a window for a 12 pack of Charmin? I mean, I get that it's soft af, but come on!
Maybe it's just that people instinctively know that the only thing separating us from the animals is the ability to produce a paper product with the sole purpose of wiping your ass.
I know it's not on the initial outbreak of Spanish Flu level of deadly (which, in all fairness, should have ended us), but it has the potential to be really bad. I don't see how containment can be possible. Yesterday there were no cases (as far as I'm aware) in my state, tonight they just reported over 50. It seems to be getting around no matter what we do. And this isn't like Plague Inc or Pandemic where eventually they come up with a magic cure. We still haven't cured the flu, and that's from over 100 years ago.

That's up to you. If you buy tp by the individual package, might want to get some more. If you buy in the dozen or two rolls package and you've still got a good chunk of it, should be good.
Stock up, don't hoard. Stay indoors if you can, keep your distance from others if you need to go out, and wash your hands regularly.
