Is Sonic Forces a good game to buy for Nintendo switch?

by
So yeah I was so frustrated I couldn't have the new animal crossing on my Nintendo DS that I eventually did it and bought a Switch! Now I'm looking for other games so animal crossing is not my only game and I was wondering if Sonic Forces released a few years ago was a good purchase?

It really depends on what you’re looking for in a Sonic game.  It’s not the best of games; the plot has holes and inconsistencies, Tails acts completely OOC, the levels are somewhat short, and on some levels Classic and Modern Sonic handle awkwardly.  On the other hand, the music is quite good, there’s a downloadable Shadow story and super mode, and the avatar customization is great. I really enjoyed it, and there’s a lot of fun to be had with it.

I’d recommend it.

I see... Thank you! I'll watch some gameplay to make myself a better idea then :)

if you're expecting Generations, then no. it's level design is very simplistic and linear.
but the Avatar stages are a lot of fun, even if the character creator is a bit low-effort. but that's why the PC version exists: you can just dig around for the mods you want and you'll get something nice.

No, I wouldn't recommend it for the Switch. I'd recommend it for PC, because modders have been able to tweak the game and make it playable. Switch games I'd recommend would be Super Mario Odyssey, Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Pokemon Sword or Shield, and if you want Sonic, maybe Team Sonic Racing.

If you can get it for 10-15 bucks, I'd say go for it.

Yes, that's a solution to don't regret too much if the game isn't at my taste. ^^

It really isn't. It plays like a B or C-tier recreation of Generations with worse level design and mechanics. The plot has giant holes that make even that hard to enjoy, including one of the worst depictions of Tails in recent history (even after he stops cowering, he starts weirdly gloating at Eggman). There's just so many cut corners. Like mentioned above, if you're really curious, pick it up on PC so you have the option of modding it later, but don't bother with the Switch version.

Thanks for your advice! I guess I'll pass for this game then... ^^ it's too bad the sonic games are not as good as before...

I wouldn't say it's worth completely skipping, but at least get it on PC (for cheap if possible) so you can enjoy the modding community, who have done a LOT for the game

Get it for PC. It’s ok for the Switch, but you’re better off using it for PC because of the mods.

A lot of the comments make the game to be Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric bad, but tbh, it’s really just mediocre. Sega played it safe with the boost formula and some parts are fun while others are more repetitive. But I don’t think that is nessecarily bad. It’s at least playable.
