hello inkbunny!

i'm starting this year by expanding my view of the art world and joining a couple new sites to view and share art on! i'm excited to see where this'll take me! ovo

I've been drawing for what to me has been a long time, but only started sharing my work online about 2 years ago. Since then, I'd like to think i have improved a lot, because i look back on my older work and see how much worse it was than how i can draw now. I've seen a lot of people, including some who i respect and look up to very much, who hate looking at their old work and even actively try and delete it completely. I'd like to propose a counterpoint to this idea: Art doesn't exist in a void; instead, each piece by an artist is part of a greater whole of the artist's library. Every drawing doesn't have to be perfect to be worthy of being in that library, as even imperfect drawings from the past shows the journey the artist has taken to get to where they are today. It's really important to remember how far you've come as an artist to put into perspective how much you've improved over time!
So what I'm saying is to not be ashamed to start drawing, since nobody can truly put out a masterpiece for their first work of art! And once you have some amount of experience behind you, don't destroy your history! Share it and show how far you've come! Whenever I'm struggling on a drawing, comparing my old art with my recent art does wonders for both my motivation and confidence in my journey as an artist.

as much as i'm not a fan of some of my own art, this is my reasoning behind sharing these drawings. thank you for your time, and i hope you'll stick around to see where i go to next on this journey! nvn
