The Unincorporated Man is a provocative social/political/economic novel that takes place in the future, after civilization has fallen into complete economic collapse. This reborn civilization is one in which every individual is incorporated at birth, and spends many years trying to attain control over his or her own life by getting a majority of his or her own shares. Life extension has made life very long indeed.
In this world, parents and investessers have stocks of you like in a company, and gain money depending of your success in life like all stockmarket. Big grades, good job and they earn the profits. As such, they got something to say about a lot of things in your life. One can wonder if someone bought most of you (in the book, many peoples hope to get 51% of themselves so they can make their own decisions) and start having plans... that you do not like. Someone want a nice diapered sissy sex slave and you'll do fine... owning most of you, they make plans, get you under surgery and take all the decisions until you are what they want... and since you don't earn much from yourself and they don't plan to sell their parts, you are their until they get tired of you...
