Shock Trooper Helmet

Blegh. Okay, so a guy on Rebelscum.com who lives in the UK wanted a GameStop exclusive Shock Trooper helmet, and they don't have GameStops in the UK, apparently. Since the helmet was on sale for $49.99 ($50 after taxes), I offered to get it for him if he'd give me the $50 for the helmet as well as whatever the shipping from the US to the UK for a Star Wars helmet is. He did.

But when I went to the GameStop last week (won't say which one), all their $50 Shock Trooper helmets were gone. This was my fault. I should've confirmed that they had one and asked them to hold it before agreeing to help this guy out. However, they called another store and had it shipped.

It arrived today with the sale's $49.99 price tag, however the sale was over. So despite what GameStop's own price tag said, I had to pay the full retail price of $100 (about $107 or something with taxes). And I say had to because I did. Even though my UK acquaintance made it clear he didn't want to justify $100+ for the helmet, I wanted him to get what he wanted.

So I returned one of my Jumptrooper action figures (thank God I still had the receipt!) and ate the difference out of my own pocket. I've assured my friend he owes me nothing and that once I have the money to do so come this Thursday (give or take), I'll ship the helmet to the UK for him. Why? As I said, no reason beyond I want this guy to get something he can't get where he lives for the original agreed upon price.

And while the issue of paying the full price if the helmet arrived after the sale ended was discussed between myself and the cashier, I still felt like a chump paying $107 for a collectible with a $50 price tag. It's, to date, my one negative experience with GameStop since I began shopping there regularly. Ugh. Oh well. If nothing else, the cashier agreed to hold the Jumptrooper I returned until Thursday, so I'll be able to buy him back if I want.

Good luck, even tho you are out a few bucks, fifty of them, your heart and soul are righteous.  You made a deal and kept up your part of the transaction, you are a good person.  Hopefully Karma will help you somewhere down the line when you are in need.

I've literally had this argument. I can't speak for regulations. There, but here in Nova Scotia. They're legally required to give you the price on the tag. This actually connects to a funny little story. Todd McFarlane action figure. One of the more rare ones they had a couple turn up at a store. They were supposed to be on sale for one price and the cashier was refusing to give it to me for the sale price trying to charge me 15 and there were people lined up behind the the was nobody behind me at first but they closed or four registers so I end up with like 15 people lined up getting really angry cashier was very vehement. I was wrong. Took them about 10 min. to get a clerk to go check the department. I even offered to walk over and take part of the display and bring it over and put it on the counter. Even the clerk in the end had to bring over one of the hangers that I got the figurine off of for the cashier would admit the mistake. They can actually get in a lot of trouble legally for charging more than a price tag states on a item, at least here in Canada couple store Scott in trouble from years ago under advertising regulations.
