Hello everyone I've been offline for a week because of some problems with my laptop and also a few problems with my internet conection, last thursday the screen of my laptop suddenly turned black at first I tought it was a software problem I kept trying to turn it on and off with the power button, I could hear the system booting and windows starting but the screen was still black, I asked a friend to check my laptop, he works a laptop repair center, but since he was doing it for free I had to wait till he had some time to do it, I just went to pick up my laptop from my friend's place he told me it was the wire that conects the video card to the screen, it's worn out probably because of the heat or just because my laptop is around 6 years old, I bought it from my brother real cheap because he knew I needed a laptop to start working on my drawings again, anyway my friend also told me that it was pointless to get a new wire because the video card will just stop working at any moment, and it's an integrated video card so I can't replace it, but at least he got the screen to work again here's a link of how my screen looks right now, https://www.dropbox.com/s/y6hn1j9pcbu0xk8/IMG_20190415_... It has all those pink scanlines that keep changing depending on whats showing on my screen and the colors are all weird. The good thing is that I just ordered a new laptop it's not an awesome laptop but it's the one that I could afford right now, its a dell latitude e5440 it should arrive this sunday. meanwhile I will do my best to finish all the commissions that got delayed because of this but it will be a little harder than usual because those changing scanlines and weird colors cause eye strain.
hmmmm that might be the cable... or honestly it being one those older hps it could be the graphics on the laptop. You could hook it up to a junk monitor if you wanted.

Sounds like a good idea, I will drop by my brother's house tomorrow he used to have a few old monitors lying around his bedroom I'm sure he won't mind if I borrow one of them

Yeah, that's a cable. It's perfectly and easily replaceable. What your repair friend is saying makes no sense, though. Any graphics card can just stop working, though you'll experience plenty of issues before then.
You didn't need to order a laptop. The dude should have said he could replace the cable. It sounds like he's full of shit and didn't want to bother offering. Unless the panel and wire are one unit, but even then it wouldn't have been that much of an issue to fix.
Did you get the i3 or i5 version of the e5440?

Looks like the ribbon cable for the display is going out. Looks like every one is having computer problems. I am actually on my old laptop due to my 4 month old laptop screen being all black. :|

Screens can easily be replaced and I am betting the backlight has gone out since its an old laptop. You can hook it up to an external display for now until you get a replacement cable/screen for the laptop
