So I've had a frequently returning customer who'd note me all the details for a commission on FA, which is exactly how I prefer to take commissions so everything was fine.
We'd later move onto Discord where it's real-time chat, but he'd still give out all the details in a few messages so it wasn't an issue.
We didn't always talk about commissions though, we'd chat about other stuff as well, I'd learn he was always tired, negative and all the previous artists he commissioned, he'd always have something bad to say about them and a reason for breaking contact. One of them charged for any small changes, another one was extremely rude, someone made fun of him etc...
Over time, he became a lot less respectful of the way I took commissions and started covertly asking me to do things his way. He started asking me to do sketches before payment and every time he wouldn't like it, I'd be at fault for taking too long or not listening to him.
One example was the false rape accusation I was dealing with and I couldn't do the commission he paid for at the time and he used that argument against me...
He eventually completely stopped listening to anything I was saying, he basically waited for his turn to speak and defend himself instead of trying to understand my point of view. It was a case of "You're not listening! / Yes I am!".
Lastly, he started making some extreme claims about me, saying I kept changing the rules on how I go about taking commissions to the point where I'd change 2 rules in one day just for him. As far as I'm concerned, the "change" was that he was no longer commissioning in one message but would drag it out in 20~ posts and wouldn't be very specific for what he wanted anymore so I had to drag the information out of him.
We were fighting while in the middle of him asking for a commission, wanting me to do a sketch before he paid because he no longer trusted me, I agreed to it.
I later came back to 2 messages, one was a simple "hey" and the other was him saying something the lines of "if you'll ignore me, at least let me know if you'll draw the commission or not"
But it was decided that I'd draw it.. I couldn't respond either because he blocked me.
The reason I'm sharing this is because I believe he will spread his convictions of what a terrible artist I am since every other artist he has broken contact with he had nothing positive to say about them either. So I just wanted to get out my side of the story just in case. Thanks for reading and sorry for the bother!
