Drawing Tablets

So, I've been using a Wacom Bamboo this whole time I've been around on here. Part of the reason you don't see much from me is because it takes quite a long time to get pictures drawn digitally...
I can draw much faster with pen and paper.

So I was wondering:

Would it be worth it to purchase a Cintiq? Anyone have experience using a Cintiq that has switched from using a Bamboo or Intuos previously that could give me some insight?

Or any of the other drawing tablets like the above mentioned.

If you are used to pen and paper I'd say getting a drawing tablet where you draw directly on the tablet will be as close to a real pen and paper as you can get. Keep the other as a backup but it will be an improvement if you can splurge for one. I've seen many artists on here go from a pad to a tablet and its like night and day for them.

I cant speak for myself, but I have a buddy that DOES use the cintiq laptop version, and he swears by it, and going off of him, and his experience, given he does this for FUN, and makes his livelihood as a software engeneer, yes, I can say first hand from my buddy ,it IS worth it if your willing to spend the money given he came from your exact situation, using a bamboo....yes....if your willing to drop the cash, go for it, you will not regret it, I can attest to that first hand from my buddy.

I never really had a problem with the disconnect between the input and feedback that comes with a tablet, so I can't really comment on that. When I did upgrade to a pen display, is made getting into the groove a lot more seamless, though.

If you have any stores nearby that sell computers you can probably demo a Surface Pro or something to get a feel for a pen display instead of just ordering one and hoping for the best.
