I actually came back last Saturday, but been so out of it since then so am just updating now..
The trip was definitely everything I expected and more, from all the different kinds of stores and cafes in bustling Tokyo to the lush tranquil scenery in Kyoto, particularly the gardens and temples. There was just too much to see there so we only had time to cover the highlights of each place. I say 'we' because I brought along my younger brother. He doesn't have a DA account but is a musician.
Anyways, the highlights of my 2 week trip:
Week One: Tokyo - Shopping in Shinjuku Harajuku (Kiddyland, Takeshita Street), Akihabara (Electronics but I also saw plenty of Pokemon merchandise!), Asakusa (More souvenirs) - Tokyo Sky Tree: Tower which allowed nice views of all of Tokyo - Maricar Racing (Go carts): https://maricar.com/en/akihabara.html - Took a tour to see Mt Fuji (It was very clear that day so I may post a photo)
Week Two: Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima/Miyajima - Saw the temples: Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari, Golden Pavillion and Kiyomizu-Dera - Nijo and Osaka Castles - Got close to monkeys in Monkey Park - Visited a cat cafe (cats were cute) - Day tour of Hiroshima memorial peace park and Miyajima island (lots of deer!)
I was blown away by the awesome people who were very polite and helpful even with my limited Japanese. Also, the convenience stores over there were way better than the ones back home! :XD:
I'll post some of the better photos of what I encountered in the meantime, as I'm actually not that motivated to draw now.
