Okay...

I lied >w> I'm not really alive on here. It's not that I don't have the time to keep two profiles up and going (I used to do the same between FA and dA all the time), but... I really don't like the Inkbunny layout. I know where everything is, but I still just can't get my head wrapped around it. It's very stylistic, which is cool, but it's hard for me to stay focused while using it. A lot of websites are moving to a more minimalist layout, and frankly I like the movement because I'm easily distracted.

I like when the most useful navigation links are the focal point of a page, and I like when lesser used links (settings, submission management, etc) take more of a backseat to navigation links. On Inkbunny it's just not the case, and a lot of the time you have to farm for the links you need through a longer, unnecessary list. It also took me a while to spot the profile navigation links (Gallery, Character Sheets, Favorites, Bookshelf, Journals, Shouts, Watches), when these are the links that should draw your eye immediately when you enter onto someone's profile page. To that end, it's really hard to tell what is a link, because it's a nonstandard. The links are dotted-underlined (which is only the case some of the time and, frankly, looks ugly), which is something people don't automatically connect to links. It'd be more useful if, upon hovering, they changed color, and didn't by default have a color that blended with the page.

I also think there are far too many pages on Inkbunny. There are so many pages that serve only one function, and it's kind of annoying. Do blocked keywords/blocked artists/banned users ALL have to be different pages? It really seems like a bit of a clusterfuck. Plus, the searchbar should be on EVERY page. :1 It is the strongest navigation tool this website has, and once again it's on one of those obnoxious, one-function pages. I like the idea of an advanced search page, but a quickie search really needs to be everywhere on the site.

Don't get me wrong, FA is one of the fugliest sites I've seen with some of the crappiest coding that has ever hit the interwebs. I'm penalizing this website when FA has similar flaws. But the fact is that FA prioritized the navigation links correctly, and really split up the page modules well. Inkbunny has random bubbles of random content here and there, and there's nothing to ground them all, which drives me nuts when I use this site. There's just too much *stuff*, when the focus should be the art. There are a lot of features that are only somewhat useful, and they take center stage on this website.

One thing I really want to make clear. These are my opinions, and why I personally have a really hard time using the website. If you love the site, great! Keep using it! It's (painfully) obvious that the back-end programming is better than FA's. I want to love it, but I just can't get there like some of you can.

But, yeah... Figured I'd make a post about it since people keep asking me why I don't like Inkbunny >w>
