My Week With Ghibli

Yea, take off of the Marilyn movie, but since I just saw it an few days ago in the cheap theaters for 1$, I felt it appropriate.

Anywho, since my last update, I've seen at least one Ghibli movie an day and it's been quite fun.

Lupin the III Castle of the Cagliostro - Pretty good old movie, nice animation, very actiony, kinda reminded me of the Professor Layton movie, minus the puzzles and more spy action.

The wonderful world of Puss in Boots - Just what you would expect, an old anime/cartoon, was fun thougg. I can just imagine getting an group of furs together to sing some of the japanese songs, they are catchy and fun. :)

My Neighbors the Yamadas - Interesting and good, but probably one of my least favorites of the group along with Puss in Boots, very much like a cartoon strip you would find in the paper.

Pom Poko - Fun tanuki movie, kinda surprised me how Disney kept the sacs in, but I guess it couldn't be done otherwise. Heh. You could definitely tell the environmental messages though.

My Neighbor Totoro - A little more childish then I expected but still very good. I thought the older girl was an boy at first though. Definitely one of those simpler movies.

Spirited Away - My god I am friggen surprised how much I forgot about this movie. Watching it again for what almost seemed like the first time really brought back the love. Definitely shot it back super high on my list.

Howl's Moving Castle - Just barely eeks out Spirited Away still as my number 1 fav, what is there not to love about this movie. :)

Porco Russo - I think the last time I saw this was in japanese with subtitles because the dialog didn't strike me much, but still an great anime movie.

Ponyo - Definitely another movie with an simpler tale but with outstanding visuals. Very lovely to see again, especially as this is my only Ghibli on Blu Ray for now.

The Borrowers Arrietty - my first time watching my japanese copy with english subtitles in full, remarkable the differences but that is probably the sams for all these movies. Good movie with beautiful music though.

I also finished out today with watching The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, which was rather moving at times, and then followed that with two of my favorite sci-fi movies Logan's Run and Moon. Now I'm ending my night with some Walking Dead Season 1 episodes. :)

So, overall it's been an great week off work, saw at least 20 movies off dvd and blu ray at home and 4 movies in theaters, not including movies I watched on TV. Just makes me sad I gotta go back in tomorrow. But at least I should be working the service desk now, which makes me happy again. Hehe.

I hope you all have an great week though!
