What type of Prismacolor? Premier? Scholar? Watercolor pencils?

Generally the best tips I can give is to find a paper that works well for you. It should have some tooth, but if you're using soft pencils like premier prismacolors you don't want TOO much. A lot of people like watercolor paper. Bristol paper oftentimes has just enough tooth to work and I've heard strathmore artagain is good, but haven't tried it myself.

Other than that, if it's not watercolor pencil, make sure to use a blender. Either a blender pencil or a tortillion/blending stump.

Colored pencils aren't my main method of coloring, so I may not be the best for advice, but hopefully it is of some use.
