I've been spending a lot of time today working on the Abridged "Crossing of the Universes" series. It's about 200 pages being compressed to about 120, which means deleting 80 pages of comics by deleting panels, and entire pages. I'm also adding some new artwork, and dropping a lot of confusing plot lines. I want to retain the humor and sexier scenes of the original, ad simplify the plot overall to something that can be followed.
Some components I'm dropping include having two separate forms of Kira and Rollout, which involves a little rewriting and remixing. I'm also removing the character of Moolie (which was Mooge combined with Rulie), as well as the character of Stantails/Stinktails. I'm also reworking characters in certain spots, such as early Shako who had a little different personality than later presentations. I'm also dropping any pre-titanium antler 3pac the Hedgehog scenes (the ones that tend to make it around 4chan quite a bit).
Other minor characters are being dropped as well, such as Miracle (who was the bastard child between Patrick the Scorpiohog and Shinoda who had cheated on 3fag), and Windchill the Frost Echidna. Major plot points are being more focused in on, such as the fire chamber where Kira kills off many OCs, since this plays an important role later with Kyra and the Saw Games.
It'll be a lot cleaner series when it's finished, but it's taking a while. There are also roughly 10 pages I still need to make to end the series properly.
One last note: the Hinterlands will end up being a separate independent series. This was its original intention. I'll be keeping about the first half of The Hinterlands, deleting the second half, and reworking it as my original plan intended so many years ago. These pages take longer to produce, and will probably come after the Abridged series. If I keep overlap between the two series, it will be reduced to mere cameos.
That whole series fell apart because I couldn't reconcile its independence from the other series, so it fell into George R.R. Martin Syndrome, because it become too big and cluttered with characters to even be able to finish. The way it has been heading, with Tails helping to find the answer to the mysterious Hinterlands, will be dropped. It involved keeping track of the three Tails from the universe splitting, but pages were being released something like 2-3 years after that other scene, so only a few of my loyal ancient watchers would even know what was going on. This will be cleaned up.
